Are you on auto-pilot?
Like for example being on auto-pilot till one gets paid? Or until one graduates high school? Or grinding until your finished some task?

No. Not at all. That would be a very unappealing way to live.
I do my best to be present here and now.
People on auto pilot get a rude awakening when it is too late to change direction, they’ve missed their whole journey just as it ends.
A bit. With work, endless meetings after work, it does sometimes feel that way. Most of us dont have the luxury of free time as adults. When your days are rote and scheduled, it can be difficult.
Maybe as a kid. Before I formed a more coherent identity, I was mainly going through the motions. I became more self-aware toward the end of high school and the time before that felt like auto-pilot in retrospect.
