Iocane powder is purely fictional. There’s nothing that it “really” is.
I must agree with @Irukandji . I looked in my 2012 Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary and it wasn’t in there.
”Iocane powder is noted as being one of the deadliest poisons known to man. It has no odor, no taste, and will dissolve instantly when poured into liquid.
However, one can build up an immunity to iocane by gradually ingesting trace doses over time. ”
Being the snowflake I am, I researched.
NO, Iocane Powder is NOT Cocaine!!! There is speculation that when it was referenced in the movie The Princess Bride that they were indeed referencing cocaine, but Iocane is NOT cocaine. Disney uses it as a poison frequently. The Urban Dictionary has this to say.. They also call it a toxin with origins in Australia .The National Institute of Health has their own opinion. Regardless of whether it is “real” or not, the Q here asks IF it is cocaine & the answer to that is a resounding NO!!!
