Why do most people think their dreams have some sort of hidden message?

Asked by SQUEEKY2 (23410points) July 25th, 2019

They are just dreams.
I have had some zingers, and some real dull ones as well.
But I have never thought it had some sort of life changing message.
Why do people think theirs is trying to tell them something?

We are not aware that the dreams originate from inside of us. It is easy to imagine that they have an external source and have some hidden message.

There is no hidden message. Dreams or our imaginations working to the max while our brains sort out the things we want to remember.

Well they just replay the things from our day in wierd ways.
My son sent me the funniest pic of my 7 year old grand daughter throwing a bowling ball. If you overlook the chicken legs and over ganglyness of Mini Me it’s not bad form.
that night I had 3 wierd dreams involving bowling….

@Dutchess_lll It’s not necessarily things from the same day though, I often dream about stuff that happened a long time ago. I don’t really think dreams have messages per se, but to me at least they sometimes seem to reflect stuff I’m thinking about a lot or anxious about, in weird ways.
