Has anyone you know of donated money to the government through the tax system?

You can do it in Canada and America, and maybe other countries. Not donations to political parties.

I donated a few bucks to Obama when he ran for his second term.

@Dutchess_III I mean though the tax system not to political parties. Its a obscure line in the back of the tax code. Where you can donate directly to the government any extra money that you don’t need.

@RedDeerGuy1 haha, I’d love to see who used that and for how much. Ridiculous. May as well donate to the mob.

@RedDeerGuy1 I know of people who made amends to the government by paying into a special fund at the Treasury. But the IRS doesn’t process it from your tax return, it is done as separate transaction.

I can’t see why anyone would do this in the first place. I wouldn’t even be a tax deduction.

This what very rich people do isn’t it? Make a donation rather than pay the full amount.
