Like a hobby. Or films from the past you haven’t seen before. Ostrich farm? Beekeeping? Local eateries. Train watching. Spelunking. Spying on the neighbor’s cat?

Judging by the way you phrased your question I take it you mean slightly older people. Even so, for me I like to watch old movies, exploring old music (from the 50’s and onward), playing old video games… Well, anything that’s old really :)
I’m learning all there is to know about TIF districts and municipal development. We have a huge deal worth 100 mill up for a vote. Its more interesting than I thought!
@KNOWITALL In my experience most (if not all) things get more interesting the more you learn about them, even things that would seem boring at first. Depending on what kind of person you are perhaps, but my user name kind of gives away my personality :)
@nerdgirl I was in math and science club, so I get it. And yes, you are correct, keen observation. The internet has helped immensely with research papers a click away. Before that it was books and libraries, not condusive to curious impatient minds like mine.
@KNOWITALL Yes and the Internet has also hurt I guess, with wikipedia and even more questionable sources just a click away as well… I know schools were really trying their best to teach online source criticism when I grew up but it was a whole new world for some of the teachers lol
All things food. from BBQ Pit Boys, to survival food to frugal eating. Mostly on YouTube.
@RedDeerGuy1 Is eating a hobby of yours, or do you mean getting better at cooking?
@nerdgirl578 Yes and yes. Trying to get better at shopping for food online and in grocery stores. I am trying to have the perfect food plan.
I try to get better at cooking also. It’s fun, and even though I kind of hate all these food competition shows around, they inspire me sometimes. I also like to eat while watching them because they make me hungry.
The growth and spread of antibiotic resistant superbugs and increasing ineffectiveness of antibiotics.
The vastness of the plastic in the oceans.
The (ongoing) disappearance of many seemingly unimportant plant and animal species.
The devastating effects of climate change and the indifference of so many to the reality.
I’ve been to a few lectures on the Universal Basic Income. I find it very interesting, because it’s challenging my thoughts in the idea.
Also, lectures on laws that relate to hot topics in politics.
I love talking to people where I live and learning about all the different things they did in their careers, and just their basic path they traveled in life.
@nerdgirl and RDG have you checked out nerdy nummies on YT? It is clever, easy to follow, and fun just to watch. Is is all sweets though.
@RDG I’ve been meaning to tell you about a clip I read. Apparently they have discovered a ew technology which allows them to make the K rations smaller. In fact, they can be shrunk to one third their original size! I’m afraid I don’t know where anyone can get them.
I am big into paleontology these days, and archeology some.
I am not finding any confirmation about the graves under a lake. I can’t remember the name of the alleged lake area either. Apparently, sometimes the water is so clear, people in boats and planes have seen evidence of it from above.
If anyone knows more on that please let me know.
If I could find someone with skill, I would like to learn flint
knapping.
@Patty_Melt No I haven’t seen that, maybe I should check it out. I’m not that much into sweets though. :)
My daughter used to love Nerdy Nummies. You can learn about her by googling Rosana Pansino. Also iJustine. Very similar and sometimes they are guests on each other’s videos.
@KNOWITALL Here is presidential hopeful Andrew Yang’s page on UBI. It answers a lot of the most commonly asked questions and concerns about UBI. I’m not trying to push him for president, I’m just offering it as a well put together FAQ on the topic.

I’m not completely sold. My biggest concern is motivation in young people. I have other concerns too.
The basic idea I like in theory, but best laid plans often have unforeseen consequences. I fear as a country we will continue to ignore systemic gouging in industries like healthcare, and other areas, and just keep figuring ways to pay rather than address what is really at the root of the problems.
