If you use a browser-provided spellchecker, what resource do you use if it marks your spelling wrong, when you're sure that it's correct?

E.g: I typed, “opalescently”, and stupid Firefokker gave me the squiggly red line.
And lo and behold, my online dictionary told me I was right.
Have you ever encountered such a thing with your spellchecker?

Sometimes it may be that you put an extra space before or after the word.
Sometimes if you go back to the word the red squiggly line will disappear.
Opalescently.
Whatever Firefox uses is not flagging it wrong.
If you are POSITIVE your spelling is correct add it to your dictionary.
I used to have a boss, not the sharpest tool in the shed, who always insisted that the email spell check was wrong and she had spelled it right.
Needless to say she sent out emails rife with misspellings.
What dictionary did you use? I did google the word and it is unrecognizable by google, but the Collin dictionary has it and it’s the first result!
I mostly encounter this when I type in words with English spelling like “organisation”. It used to happen with my Google Chrome spellchecker, but recently it has learned to tolerate people from outside America :)
Oh, just as I typed “spellchecker” I got a red lime. Guess my browser refused to believe that it was wrong :P
@jca2
Firefox spellchecker doesn’t look at anything to the left or right of the characters in the word being checked.
It marked it wrong because it was omitted from its base dictionary.
@Dutchess_lll
The Firefox I’m using flagged it as wrong until I added to my dictionary.
I’m positive my spelling was correct because I copied and pasted it into the search box at https://www.merriam-webster.com/
This could be because of the dissimilarities between the individual user caches and/or versions of Firefox.
Well mebee your adding it to your dictionary made.it kosher for the rest of the internet because mine says it’s correct
opalescently. (Had to check again..)
I use the Oxford dictionary.
It usually turns out, that the spell checker likes to pretend that colonial english is a real language.
Just recently, it tried to tell me, that “worshipped” is spelt with only one ‘p’.
I use Firefox & when it doesn’t like my spelling of a word that I know is correct, I do a google search a duckduckgo search, a Miriam Webster search, I type it into my cell, & I usually do a 2nd dictionary search. Then, IF they agree that my spelling is correct, I add it to my dictionary. That way I never have to look it up again!!! IF any one of my searches disagrees, I don’t add yet & keep on researching. I’ve also discovered that the younger generation has changed the spelling & usage of a word that was prevalent my entire life & I defer to the modern usage. I’ve also found that I get different & more relevant results with duckduckgo over google that leads me to a better reason to not spell it my way or proves that I was correct!!!
Eye half no kneed four a spill checker. Ass a matter uh fact, nun uh d words in this pest has gotten the read squiggly lion.
Sew now tat I’ve proven watt a god speller eye am, I’m going two tern hit off because aye know longer knead it.
