Yes, but I am slowly learning (very slowly) that other people have their own needs and desires.

It’s certainly the way I view MY life. Those aren’t the only views. Let’s not neglect the failures and disappointments.

No. I have a child (a pre-teen) so a lot of my thoughts are about what she needs and what she may like.

Everyone’s view of life is shaped by their own belief one way or another. It’s impossible to eliminate that completely, that’s just how the brain works.

But based on the answers, do you mean the tendency to put your own need in front of others? Yes, I was a self-centered kid until I was 11. Middle school taught me that I wasn’t the only person in the world.

Quite often your own needs and desires are simply to fulfill the needs and desires of others.

No. I’m always thinking about those I care for. Their needs and desires come first.

This question is very pertinent to me right now. I’m trying to help my elderly mom with stuff while trying to maintain my own health. ( I have a number of chronic conditions.). My siblings all complain they work more hours and shouldn’t have to help as much. I do what I can, but apparently that is not enough according to their standards. Thus I find myself constantly having to defend my own health needs.
