What are some movies that, once you've seen them, there is no point in watching them again?

Asked by Dutchess_lll (8753points) September 15th, 2019

Rick is fond of 50 First Dates. Not sure why except Adam Sandler is fairly funny in it. If I never see that movie again I will be fine! As it is we watch it once a year or so.
What movie would you be OK never watching again?

Babes in Toyland. Not what I expected.

I’d say a good 95 percent of the ones I have ever watched.

The Sixth Sense and The Others…both of them had twists that, once you see them, ruin it for future watchings.
I have seen movies I literally couldn’t get through…they were that bad. The Pest comes to mind.

Most movies, really.
Mostly movies that rely on you not knowing the plot progression.
Movies that lack interesting characters, and immersive and interesting dialogue and character interaction.

6th Sense. Although I had to watch it a second time.

Lars Von Trier films. I revisit many other movies a lot but that Trier one with Willem Dafoe I’m done with that.

His Melancholia however I would watch again someday. Trier dares you to dip your toes into dark ether like depression and then slowly pushes you in to drown. Technically, Melancholia is a great film so it’s worth revisiting.

No point revisiting movies that were only fairly entertaining, even forgettable. Maybe if it’s free on Netflix or Amazon then yes.

People watch the same movie many times because for some reason it triggers the same feeling of delights and thrills over and over again. You still get a good rush despite knowing what’s to come. Like Die Hard for example. I see it once in a blue moon when I’m in the mood to watch Alan Rickman’s awesomely portrayed Hans Gruber.

My first thought was movies that have major gimmicks or twists, but sometimes they do warrant at least a second viewing so that one might go back and notice all the moments when the twist was presaged throughout the movie. For the most part, I don’t re-watch movies unless I find them to be especially interesting.

Too many to name that are not worthy of time wasting by watching them again.

All the poorly done and mediocre ones, and even many of the good ones, so most of them.

I mainly only re-watch movies when I particularly enjoyed them or have some specific interest in them or their subject, and/or when I want to watch it with someone.

Something like The Hateful Eight, I can watch over and over.
The dialogue is just soooo good, that you can just have it run in the background at all time.

I don’t know, if I like a movie I’d probably probably watch it again eventually and still enjoy it. Even movies like 6th Sense, the twist was pretty obvious anyway and not very original. I wouldn’t watch 50 first dates again though, but that’s because I don’t like it very much :)

^^Agree on Slumdog, Waterworld and Terms….but not sure about Dances. Would love to see that again if played on a wide screen. Revisiting Driving Miss Daisy once every few years.

I could watch Driving Miss Daisy every month.
