Just two days after Barr met with Murdoch, Shepard Smith, one of the few close to neutral people at Fox News, "resigns". Coincidence?

Asked by ragingloli (52231points) October 11th, 2019

Or a transparent act to directly silence critical voices at his personal propaganda channel?

Probably no way to know unless you ask him.

Smith resigned? Wtf! If that’s the case, the pathetic and doomed trump mafia is still twitching.

Damn. He’s the only person worth watching on that channel. He truly is neutral with his reporting and speaks out against injustice. What a shame.

There were 3 lonely claims to legitimacy in the entirety of the Fox barnyard when it came to the news vs. propaganda: Chris Wallace, Bret Baier and Shep Smith. The 3 of them are the only obstacle in the entirety of the Fox retinue to the network’s relegation to the pile of transparently vapid carnival journalism. The 3 of them are all there is about the place which allows an individual to take any words emitted from the network seriously. And Smith’s jumping ship indicates the difficulties faced by those institutions compelled to hitch their wagons to a pig.

No. Rumors have been swirling about him leaving.

Might have been that his ratings were among the lowest on the channel. And viewers were turning away from Fox because of people like him. In the end, it’s a business. If viewers are tuning out, sponsors will be turning away and the money slows down. Just like in any business, you get rid of marginal performers.

Barr told Murdoch “Smith has to go” and so he was fired.

Barr is not independent, like other A-Gs have been. Barr is a Trump henchman.

It’s unlikely to be a coincidence as he signed a three year contract just last year. With the number of ex Trump aides now working for Fox and with anyone criticising Trump being shown the door Fox News will soon achieve its ambition of becoming the official medium of the state.

It looks like he planned the departure and it wasn’t as abrupt as it looks.

Or is Forbes not to be trusted? I don’t know.

The thing to note about Smith and his departure is the man’s integrity. He actually abandoned 15 million dollars a year without a word badmouthing the outfit notorious for ethical shenanigans in stark contrast to his own deportment. The man is a class act and stuck out at Fox like a rose in a dung heap.

According to Smith, he had been contemplating leaving for over a year, but felt he was the voice of reason on Fox. He say it was a daily battle to be the voice of reason in the midst of ALL the opinion fluffers standing up blindly for trump…plus the Fox brass were standing up for the fluffers & ignoring his suggestions. He said it was simply his time to GO as it was beginning to affect his family as well!!! He says Fox asked him to stay, but he respectfully declined.

What I read is that Tucker Carlson had been making his life miserable, and that it wasn’t worth the trouble to Smith.
