In the future will our Lurve be taxed?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) October 11th, 2019

Canada Is thinking of taxing social media and online shopping platforms like Amazon and other tech companies like FaceBook and Google , ect…

Do you think that these taxes are a bad idea?

Canada Is having an election right now till Oct. 21/2019 and the leaders are mulling over imposing a tech tax.

Humor and serious answers welcome.

We’re already being taxed on Amazon. That I can understand because it’s the same as walking into a local store & being charged sales tax for what we buy.I???

Your question melds two concepts into one question. Taxing online shopping like Amazon already occurs in many jurisdictions, and is appropriate as a sales tax.

“Taxing” social media that is free to users is problematic, as there is no transaction to tax or to determine a value to tax.
