Love Shack for our group of girls, with drunk dancing, pretty funny. Applause.
In front of a bunch of Japanese coworkers I sang the theme song for a kids’ TV show.
Chibi Maruko chan – complete with body and hand gestures.
When the theme began the guys were looking around the room thinking “WTF?” and then I ran up there and belted it out!
I was a hero!
I think I have only once been cajoled into singing Karaoke, years ago, and it was “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf. I think I did a good job.
@LuckyGuy -Too funny! I would like to hear your version of this! XD
My brother told me that he and his co-workers felt like rock stars after they sang while in Japan…but this was in English. You definitely win! Lol!
@ Zaku- Not a bad pick:)
@Zaku -To suit your voice or personality?
Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Applause. Probably because Fun Was Had. :-)
I’m boring I guess. I’ve never done this.
@lucillelucillelucille Probably both. They knew me, music, and my voice well, and I think the song’s theme fit their view of my tendency to keep my wild side building up energy under wraps.
@Castle -It’s a good way to test one’s reflexes.:)
I have too much social anxiety to be ever caught doing that.
@lucillelucillelucille At the time, I had been living in Japan for over a year so I couldn’t do an English song. That is considered a bit of a cop-out. I secretly studied and practiced for weeks making sure I could do it right.
I even sang it using my best representation of a squeaky kid voice.
I’m secure in my manhood.
“I’ll Melt With You” by Modern English I can do decently. I don’t think it’s a hard song to sing though.
Love doing songs by Hall and Oates and Todd Lundgren. Haven’t been booed yet.
Would love to try MacArthur Park the way Richard Harris did it. I would need four shots of scotch. Neat. Lol
^^One of the sweetest romantic songs to sing….If ever I could leave you, would it be in the springtime? A karaoke duet should be a lot of fun.
I have twice sung The Long and Winding Road at two separate church events (two different churches)
The first time, I chickened out and didn’t perform. But the next opportunity, I did. It was perfect. At another church during a Fall carnival, knowing that I could sing it well, I performed that song again.
The Long and Winding Road just feels very British and resonates with me to the pith and core. I once had a girlfriend who left me, in my mid teens. So now, I get passionate about that song.
Years ago my co-workers wife and I sang Bye bye Miss American Pie. We were very drunk and thought we sounded good. Co-worker assured us we were awful and wouldn’t let us go back for more songs. We both can’t carry a tune in a bucket.
@chyna -Me either.
That doesn’t stop me from inflicting Louie Armstrong songs on my husband. In that voice. :)
American Pie (how long is it, anyway?) is a song that really gives of audience a dose! XD
It is sooo freaking long! I’m thinking we only sang the chorus.
@chyna – I know I couldn’t get through the whole song.
I saw it being sung on an episode of “The Office”. When they got done, it was dark. XD
Bangles: Walk like an Egyptian.
I rock the shit out of that song & if you don’t believe me you can ask my mummy.
@ucme Did you do the walk? lol, I liked that song, too.
@KNOWITALL You betcha life I did, still do given half a chance.
Their lead singer, Susannah Hoff I think her name is…hubba hubba :D
@ucme- I just looked up a list of handsome male 80’s singers.
I tried to imagine them with a hair cut but gave up.XD
Hahahaha, you’re not wrong there lol
I mean, I know you like your Meatloaf steaming hot XD
@ucme – I do like him! He is not my type though. BTW, he too needed a haircut back then.
Speaking of BTW, i’m drawn to the point of distraction by your profile pic.
Ming the Merciless gazes upon me with damning eyes =O(
@ucme- I need more sleep.Then, and only then will I be rested enough to scroll up. Lololol!
Last time? Hell by the Squirrel Nut Zippers
Next time? Moon River as Tom Waits might sound.
Tomatoes. I like the commercial where the guy say “people get emotional when I sing”.
@filmfann -I’d love to hear someone sing that song by the SNZ!
Was the guy who originally sang MR, the same guy that sang “Havin’ My Baby”?
No. Moon River was made big by Andy Williams.
Havin’ My Baby was sung by Paul Anka.
We were on a tradition dinner cruise in Japan (two friends, my husband, and I) and we were the only Americans. A couple of tables were urging us to do the karaoke, and we declined. After first green or twenty minutes, a man selected a song for us to sing without our permission. They handed us microphones and the music started. Of all songs—YMCA. Lol. When it came to the chorus all the Japanese people started doing the whole spell out the letters with your arms thing. Cracked us up.
I can’t sing, I never volunteer to do karaoke.
Lucille won’t you do your daddy’s will
Oh Lucille, just won’t you do your daddy’s will
Well, it ain’t nothin’ to you, I love you still
Lucille, please come back where you belong
Oh Lucille, please come back where you belong
I’ve been good to you baby, please don’t leave me alone
Well, I woke up this morning, Lucille was not in sight
I asked her friends about her but all their lips were tight

@filmfann dude! Hell by SNZ is awesome and I’m impressed that someone other than me knows or still remembers the song!
@filmfann -I always get those two mixed up
@JLeslie -That’s hilarious! Did you only sing once then?
@Pinguidchance – I played your link& my husband started singing it! Lol!I haven’t heard it before.
@Castle -Good for dancin’.
In English I practiced 10 Rounds with Jose Cuervo.
It is simple to sing. The song does not require a wide singing range, the words are easy, and you can choreograph it a bit by counting on your fingers.
@kritiper – I remember that now! It’s been a long time since I’ve last heard it.
