Have your own personal experiences colored how you interpreted something?

A song?
A book?
A movie?
A painting?

I cried during Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The story line about Kylo Ren and Han Solo felt like an allegory about losing a child to drug addiction.

I also cried while watching Frozen, thinking about my schizophrenic sister.

I’m guessing that’s not how most people interpreted these two movies. Ha.

I can’t even count the number of crappy songs that suddenly took on new meaning after a break-up.

Of course. We’re all human.

Yes.
All of the above.
I watched “Ponette” after my mom died and cried like a baby. I wonder how I’d react to it today as it has been over a decade.

Your own personal experiences affect how you interpret your world and all that is in it. That’s why we get it wrong so often. We make decisions on what we know, but in the whole realm of things, we know so little.
