There’s nothing worse than watching your child suffer. I wish I could take his pain from him.
How can I sleep? Will I sleep?

Keep things positive so he will not dwell on how bad he feels.
The trick is to comfort the child as much as you can. Once he starts feeling better, you’ll start feeling better!!! Not sleeping will only make you grumpier & will do NOTHING to help the situation. I don’t know how to tell you to get more sleep when the brain won’t turn off, but I find talking to myself about boring stuff often helps. The brain can’t think the terrible thoughts while you’re pushing the boring stuff at it. Eventually, you’ll bore your brain to death & it will go to sleep to save itself!!! Wishing you the best with your child!!!
Perhaps some comfort will come from knowing that you are dong all you can to help him, <<HUGS>>
My pediatrician used to end most phone conversations with the dictum, “Keep calm and carry on.” That’s the best advice I can give you. Hope he gets well soon!
When your child is suffering, perhaps try not to think about yourself. Do what must be done. That is motherhood.
@jca2 This time it’s physical. He’s missed two weeks of school due to pneumonia.
@Sagacious Hello. I’m the OP with a new account. I have two adult sons who are 27 and 25, so parenting isn’t new to me. Most parents know you are no good to your children if you don’t take care of yourself. I needed comfort during a trying time, that’s why I asked this question. I always do what must be done and I rarely think about myself when it comes to my children.
@Jonsblond I answered based on the information in your question.
