I was raised to be competitive, but I am not, by nature, competitive. This renders me confused.
I’m not competitive at all.
@jca2 – A ringer,perhaps? :)
Yes, to some degree. In the academic world and to a lesser extent in the workplace.
Yes. But winning and/or winning at all cost is not as important as compromise.
With myself, yes.
Depends on how you define winning?
@raum -Something that would inspire you to yell, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! (inside your mind as one wouldn’t want to be a poor sport)
Well, if that’s the criteria…
I often run around shouting YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY in my head for one reason or another. :P
@raum -My neighbor hired the world’s slowest lawn service.
The lawnmower the guy uses is as loud as a freight train.
The other day, it died on him and my hub and I yelled YAAAAAAAAAAAAY! at the same time.
I could hear lawnman laughing. (made me happy as I thought I had gone deaf)
Yes, and I will do almost anything legal to win-it works for me.
Ha, extremely!
Think it started when as a young sperm I won the race to the egg & flipped the finger to my many beaten rivals.
This progressed into childhood when I scribbled on a classmates written work when he wasn’t looking so I would get the gold star sticker of teacher.
As a Dad there’s no way my kids are beating me at a damn thing, i’m the bloke who scattered every monopoly piece to the four corners of the room rather than accept defeat.
Aside from that though, i’m pretty much chilled :D
@ucme – The Monopoly tantrum might be interesting to watch.
@ucme -That is a good approach.
I’m very competitive, and I have more than one example of how my competitiveness can potentially ruin my mental health.
I have made a point not to participate in any competitive activity that doesn’t have any benefit in the long run. This is another reason why I don’t do gambling. Got to keep my demon at bay.
I appreciate, though, that my competitiveness provides me with drive for self-improvement.
@Mimi Thats interesting you mention gambling specifically. The odds are not in pur favor and they use all kinds of tricks ie lighting, oxygen, drinks, comps. As a winner, it annoys me to give tricksters my money in a game that favors them greatly. Just my thoughts. :)
