There are times loved ones and friends appear in my dreams only for me to realize upon waking up that they’re already dead. That could feel deeply exhausting.
Have humans benefited from having night dreams? Have dreams ever influenced, even change the course of human history?

I think dreams are amazing.
In the grand scheme of things, our lives are so short. But since we are able to dream, we are able to experience a vastness that isn’t confined by time.
I’ve nodded off for a few minutes and dreamed of years.
The advantage, and disadvantage, of dreaming is that I can see myself have sex with anyone.
Dreams are the result of your brain processing what it wants to remember. Whatever kinds of weird shit happens in dreams, I couldn’t tell you.
The advantage of dreaming while asleep is that it doesn’t confuse reality when awake.
At first I thought you might be talking about research that has been done about why the beau and body needs to dream, but from your details I think you are just asking how we might be consciously aware of how it might help or hurt us.
I very rarely am aware I’m dreaming or aware I have dreamt anything, and that’s when I feel best. As I get older I am more aware of dreams, and it feels like I didn’t get a sound sleep.
My whole life I am more likely to be aware I’m dreaming when it’s a nightmare. Nightmares suck.
