I guess what could be irritating to some isn’t to others. And I guess they mean to the lining of the stomach not the tongue? It’s recommended by health care (doctor, hospital) document, but I don’t know which one.

It could be any number of things. Acid reflux or an ulcer are two possibilities; diverticulitis is another.
Ok. But that is for certain people right? This instruction is for all.
You need to provide links or there’s no way to answer. We can’t read your mind.
Duh !!! It could anything from ulcers to colitis or IBS.
For me it was bleeding ulcers from stress. Bland foods, 7up, water for a week.
Heartburn is one. I would opt for GERD. (Gastroesophageal reflux disease/disorder.) (I think the term “disorder” is more accurate. Why they call it a “disease” I don’t know…)
@KNOWITALL You got it. So, that’s a good example.
@kritiper That’s another example.
Good point disorder sounds more right.
How about a condition that affects everyone, i.e much more mundane?
Maybe bleeding ulcer is not something everyone gets if extra stressed?
@flo Ulcers are fairly common. Untreated they can become worse. I was in college, super stressed. Probably affects more people than you’d think.
Ice cream headache affects everyone
@flo I think you’re on a wild goose chase. There is no one food that irritates everyone. People have different biomes and different conditions and there is no universal irritant to avoid. What made you think there is? I can eat everything and not be bothered. Only people with certain conditions – like IBS, GERD, Etc., have to avoid certain foods or people who have realized individually that something upsets them.
Without specific context, this is the best answer I can give.
@KNOWITALL I looked I don’t see anything about how common and there is no mention of _stress caused ulcer in this site but I don’t know the site.
“Stomach ulcers are almost always caused by one of the following:”
_“an infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)”
“long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen”
“Rarely, a condition known as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome can cause stomach and intestinal ulcers by increasing the body’s production of acid. This syndrome is suspected to cause less than 1 percent of all peptic ulcers.
Missing from my detail:
“medical condition that’s experienced by just about everyone”
@RedDeerGuy1 Icecream headache?
@flo Ice cream headache is when you eat or drink something cold too fast. Like ice cream or froster or slurpy. It affects every one of us humans.
@RedDeerGuy1 So, you eat “non-irritating” as my OP suggests a misnomer term, for the 5 seconds that icecream headache (I think I have an OP about icecream headaches) lasts.
…Experienced by just about everyone, (unless death as a baby): common cold, example.
