Bye bye Bei Bei, Bei Bei bye bye.
Panderer
At first I was alarmed that Netanyahu had died. Good luck to the more benign carnival attraction!
Byeeee, be happy and safe!!
@Pinguidchance I got that without needing to hit the link.
The BCR were another of my wife’s favourites back in the day.
There’s no accounting for taste!
Oh & to answer the question…ciao bambino!
They (pandas,) don’t do well in captivity. I wouldn’t do well in captivity either. I wish him well.
He’s a very happy boy. See some of the videos.
Captivity is crucial to their survival. Not only do they do well in captivity, because of their breeding and birth rates, they must have the sheltering and nurturing they receive from the handlers.
Bei Bei is one example of their positive response to human aid. Their numbers were dangerously low. Currently they are, while still low, improving significantly. The panda trade agreement with China was started as a desperate move to save the species.
It is not captivity, it is shelter and aid.
When I was a child, the species was projected to be extinct by now, unless drastic measures could be successful.
Well. We’re the reason why they are going extinct… And the reason why they are still around. What an interesting race, we humans are….
We are not the reason for their population decline. We are a factor, but they are one of those strange issues of nature. They used to be omnivores, long ago. Something happened to their food source, and they turned to an all grass diet. Also, as I said, their birth rate was on a steep decline. We were not responsible for any of that. Those issues predate pollution and environmental encroachment.
^You honestly believe that Chinese actions, have not affected the species?
You’re smarter than that Patty.
I am smarter than that. I didn’t say that. I said we are a factor, not the reason. Did you know Bei Bei is a twin? The other one didn’t live long. That is not our doing. Humans have reduced the occurrence of twins not surviving together.
Your lack of knowledge tells me you are not concerned for panda survival. You only wanted to trample my thread.
Pandas couldn’t learn how to protect their species, but we do learn. Humans have made mistakes with our home planet, but we are learning.
^Sorry for upsetting you. I have nothing but respect for you Patty.
Peace n love.
(hugz)
I want in! Patty sammich, get it, get it?!
I’m starting to get nervous.
You won’t be nervous, after the sandwich. ~
Would you care to wrap your lips around some prime English beef? :D
Cheeky monkey!
I likes me beef lean.
What an interesting world, we live in…
Is this what they call panda-ering?
I’m not sure of much, these days.
Panda thread pandering.
Panda-ering
Over here we have a slang name for police cars, they’re known as panda cars…not joking!
@ucme . Is that because they are black and white?
No, never have been that’s the funny thing.
Then they picked it up from here. Truckers have been known to call black and whites that.
Well. There are many different types of LEOs. Black and whites, are just one part….
Looked it up & apparently way back in the day, British cop cars were a light blue & white but came across on the televisions of the time as b&w…hence the nickname panda.
^That’s what I love about Fluther. It educates me, about the world.
Another cop based fun fact…
Way back in the sixties my mum used to watch a serial drama on tv called Z Cars
Was about the trials & tribulations of a police station & It’s officers somewhere in England.
I have no idea why they would call their pursuit vehicles the name they did in the show’s title.
^Admiral response, LEOs take an oath. It’s up to them, if decide to uphold it.
