Fighter jet for sure. Launched from an aircraft carrier. Specifically an F4 Phantom.

Fighter jet. But seriously, an A-10 Thunderbolt II.

I suffer from motion sickness, so I think I would prefer a submarine.

Yeah that sounds like a blast just not sure my guts could take it afraid I would toss my cookies all over the cock pit.

Edit Ride in a nuclear submarine. If I get a full tour and meal. I can’t handle more than one G.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

Fighter jet if I was a passenger with Depends on.

Submarine if I could drive.

mazingerz88's avatar

As much as I want to experience a submarine ride, I pick jet.

Fighter jet, being underwater like in a sub freaks me out.

seawulf575's avatar

Been on the submarine. Would do the fighter jet.

rebbel's avatar

Been in a submarine.
Fighter yet sounds much more exhilarating.
Submarine = workplace/office.
Fighter yet = Six Flags+.

I can’t swim…So ill take Jet Flight if offered to me. I can use some Adrenalin to KICKSTART MY HEART!!!

The jet, of course. You can eject from it in an emergency, you have a great view, and you will feel open and free.
In a sub, when it sinks, your are fucked, you have no view, and it is cramped.
And there are no skyscrapers to fly into under the sea.

Planes have windows. Submarines don’t. Fighter jet for me. Besides, I like going fast.

@RedDeerGuy1 tall people do not do well on submarines. They keep bumping their heads.

I would rather be a passenger in the jet but would choose the submarine because my age limits experiencing ‘g’ forces.

The worst part about being aboard a sub it the ladder going down from topside.
I did liberty runs to and from one sitting offshore a few days.

The academy gets ships to come for first hand observation by me midshipmen. When that happens boat division takes UBs loaded with mids out and back, and sailors who have liberty ashore.
The UB crew had to hang out while the mids took a tour. Breakfast and lunch on board. One time it was a sub. I went below with some of the fleets and hung out they got me a glossy 8×10 of the ship, and a yeoman who could forge the captain’s signature wrote a naughty autograph. I sat high atop a huge pipe chatting. I asked if I could see a torpedo. They asked what did I think I was sitting on. :-D
It never felt like I was on or under water. The food was good. The radio techs had a Baltimore rock station tuned in.
I was wishing we could go for a spin, but hanging out during six tours a day was fine.

I would not make a choice. I want to be greedy and do both, fly, and submerge.

@Patty_Melt You haven’t lived until you eat your lunch in a torpedo tube!

Patty_Melt's avatar

Now, see, now you got me wishing for a revisit!

I’ll go in the submarine as a guest of Ringo Starr.

Brian1946's avatar

I’d rather ride in a sightseeing sub.

Although they don’t really have “windows”, they do have portholes for viewing marine wildlife.

Patty_Melt's avatar

@Brian1946 have you seen the individual subs you ride like a scooter? I would love to try one of those.

Fighter jet would make me puke & a sub would be awfully claustrophobic.
Be happy to float on the surface though, anyone yells “DIVE DIVE DIVE!!” & I stick the periscope into their nether regions.

LadyMarissa's avatar

I don’t see where not being able to swim should deter anyone from having the experience. IF there was a problem, you couldn’t swim fast enough to get to the surface anyway!!! I’ve read that after the initial freak out when you realize that you’re drowning, it becomes a very peaceful way to go. Not sure I want to test that theory!!!

Now when a jet hits the ground…SPLAT

@Patty_Melt

I haven’t, but that does seem like a good combination of exercise and submerged sightseeing.

I can imagine James Cameron offering Johnny Knoxville $10 million, to ride one to the Challenger Deep, in his LAST episode of Jackass. ;-p

Speaking of jackasses, I could see Aquaman and I taking one built for two in a harebrained hunt for The Meg!

seawulf575's avatar

@ucme now see? With thoughts like that, wanting to stick a periscope into somebody’s nether regions, you’d make just a dandy submariner! By the way, I have done a swim call on the sub. Out in the middle of the ocean when it’s calm, the sub surfaces and adjusts depth so the deck is reachable. Set a couple “life guards” and have at it! jump off into the wide open ocean!

I hear Jack Custard liked his submarine…sweet!

Sagacious's avatar

I would prefer riding a horse in the foothills. But thanks.

NoMoreY_Aagain's avatar

Neither one. Don’t fly and I’m claustrophobic. I’ll take my chances as a grunt.
