Exercise and a decent diet.
I don’t let holidays stress me out.
Starting early and planning ahead. Spacing out activities with “me time” in between. Not making early morning commitments. Hot baths. Not making phone calls when I’m not in the mood to talk.
With difficulty.
Reading, breathing, bathing, making and drinking tea are helpful, but (so far) not to the extent of taking it all away.
I’m aware we need stress, but I think I still have too much of it, as it is.
It mostly works psycho-somatic on me.
I don’t. I ignore it. Generally shit just works itself out.
But I am special. No kids, no rent, no real bills or worries about money.. But even before I was in my unique situation things just worked out. And I have been evicted and had to move in 24 hours about five times. Always landed on my feet. I guess I could stop looking for roommates on Craigslist.
I’m the least stressed person anyone around me knows & am always asked how I do it.
The only answer I can give them is the one that is second nature to me, laugh shit off & it melts away.
I realise that’s not as easy for everyone but for me, it is.
@ucme I understand that well
@lucillelucillelucille You scratch my back & I’ll tickle yours!
There are exceptions of course, I mean, I’m not going to laugh if an intruder breaks into our home. No, no, that fucker gets a cricket bat smacked off his head!
@lucillelucillelucille exercise works wonders on stress and for getting a reset on things.
@janbb Your answer is my answer word for word. Thanks!
@rebbel I too find a bubble bath with a cup of tea and a good read is a fabulous way to keep stress where it belongs.
@johnpowell Having roommates was some of the more stressful days I remember.
@ucme Laughter is good medicine for a lot that ails us.
@raum Not well is not good. Stay on top that stress!
@Vignette I have a shower.
My weapons to battle it are used separately, most of them.
But yeah, they can be helpful.
@rebbel I picture your idea of a bath is to cut a hole in the ice
^^So how about a GA? Yeah, I’m a lurve whore.
@janbb Ask and ye shall receive. I just missed ya on that one
I don’t schedule too many things back to back. At work, I space out the meetings I have, if I can help it. I don’t make the meetings first thing in the morning, if I can help it.
On my days off, I don’t schedule appointments early in the morning. Week days are early enough for me, so I really enjoy and take advantage of my weekends and not having to rush in the mornings. If I do something that takes a lot of energy, I will make the following day be something very leisurely. For example, my daughter spent the day at the mall yesterday with her twin friends, and I hung out with the girls’ mother. It wasn’t arduous but it wasn’t how I would prefer to spend my day. Today, I had no plans until dinner. Sunday morning was recovery time. Then it snowed and the whole day turned into recovery time. Now school is closed tomorrow so Monday will be recovery time, also.
@jca2 How much snow did you get?
@janbb: Only about an inch but they say it’s a hard shell now. Supposed to snow all day tomorrow. Schools are already closed in our town and neighboring towns. I like knowing ahead of time so I can stay up late and not have to worry about waking up early. Daughter and her friends are ecstatic.
