Or, island life.
Do you live on an island, or have you ever done so?
Can you tell me what you have experienced are characteristics of said life, and/or how it differs from life on land?
From what I have seen and experienced, I can say that there’s a great sense of community, which has its ups and its downs.
Gossip is a basic necessity, it seems.
But people are ready to help anyone that is in need (family, or friend, or foe).
There’s is hardly any crime on the island.
But the nearest hospital can be as far away as an hour driving (most likely to be done by yourself (well, a family member or friend); ambulances are few, and not always close by.
Can you add to the list?
With things you’ve experienced, or with things that you can imagine after you’ve put some thought into it?
Thanks!

My hub and I almost moved to two different small islands.
One was a tiny. uninhabited one with only one house on it.It was accessible by boat or snowmobile. One could get trapped there.
The other is populated year round and has many summer residents.
It’s accessible through ferry, small plane or boat. Right now, residents are unable to access or leave the island as they’re having trouble with their ferry, dock access.
In my experience, your ideas about it are very accurate for these tiny communities.
In a zombie apocalypse, it could be very good or very bad.
I had to look it up.
Life seems okish.
It keeps me here, interacting.
The logistics are good.
No-one to bother you , except other posters.
It’s like an insular peninsular.
Cosy.
If it helps solipsisters I’m all for it.
I am a rock
Small town life sounds very similar, and some hate some love it. Everyone knowing everything about you is sometimes tough, but if you love it, its incredibly heartening to know they’re a form of extended family. I love it, we take care of our own, defend our own, etc..
