What is the purpose of the small pinhole found in many locker locks next to the key hole? It’s a drain hole to allow rain water and condensation to drain out from around the spring under the hasp.

In addition to what @Inspired_2write posted, water drainage from the lock is important in freezing weather, because water expands when it freezes.
It also serves as an injection port for lock lubricant.
There is a small button inside for a factory reset, in case you lose your password.
It’s for the insertion of a small wire to hold the pins up against spring pressure when a locksmith can picks the lock.
Water drain hole so it can be used outdoors.
