What type of welding is used for small jobs?
I don’t wish to build a ship, just small pieces using stainless, copper or cold roll.
If you have used a plasma cutter, feel free to wax poetic about that as need to live vicariously through you until I get my hands on one.
Thank you for your time.

MIG welding is probably the easiest to learn. Is there a community college nearby? Check to see if they have any classes.
@raum – Have you used a plasma cutter?
I haven’t done any arc welding myself. Have only watched the instructors do it.
I worked with kids. Mostly stuck with MIG. The more advanced kids did some TIG.
After you graduated from the welding class, you could take this class to make your own bike frame. It was pretty cool what the kids came up with.
@raum- Is TIG used for bigger jobs like cars & ships?
What kind of metal were the bikes made of?
Both MIG and TIG seemed pretty heavy duty.
Not sure. Steel or aluminum?
If you’re looking for something lightweight, could you just solder it?
Brazing, soldering, gas welding with a acetylene torch would do the job for many thin, light materials/metals.
You can solder copper or cold roll pretty easily. Maybe not aluminum though.
Brazing and gas welding are also options. But they require higher temps. I would do those in a proper shop.
