Women: if you had a brother growing up, was it overall a good experience?

Asked by JLeslie (65743points) December 19th, 2019 from iPhone

Did you get along with him? Did you ever wish you didn’t have a brother? I don’t mean wish him dead, I just mean did he harass you and make you miserable? Or, did you get along well? Did he help you out?

I have had three brothers – one was very sweet but died very young, one harassed me and one was (and is) a fairly good companion but we don’t see each other often. He is coming down for Chanukah next Wednesday.

I grew up with a younger brother. He was, and still remains, my best friend. Two people couldn’t get along better or be any closer, and we keep in touch nearly every day.

Yep, it was good. I have one older, one younger. Neither was especially protective growing up and is why they get dirt for their birthday presents.XD
I am close to my younger brother and talk to him often.

Older brother fun to be around but not after a round of drinking..opposite behavior resulted.
Second oldest brother gentle and mindful of others and completely opposite of the oldest one.

On thinking on this fact I realize that the oldest copied/learned my late fathers behaviors while the second gentle brother duplicated my late mother’s personality etc

This tells me that perhaps patterns of behavior ARE learned in families and passed on.

My Brother and I always got along!! Until he started practicing karate on me when I was like 7 and 8 yrs old, it happened when Mom would go to work, and when he would hand me pillows to protect me from his kick, it was a lil scary then became fun. But I decided it was payback time, so I got him back pretty good! But for the most part we were always close and I love my Brother dearly.
