Are there really Russian and Romanian women that want to date you?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33550points) December 23rd, 2019

I was looking in my Gmail Spam folder this morning – for an email that was mis-labeled as spam – and ran across several hundred spam messages advertising “Russian Women wanting to meet you” and “This Romanian woman is HOT!!” and similar come-ons.

First, are there really men that stupid that would respond to these?

Second, is it all a big fake? Are there really Russian and Romanian women that are behind these ads? Or is there something else – like fraud – going on?

They want to meet you, marry you, become a US citizen, then divorce you and take half your stuff.

Just watch the ” 90 day fiance” show and watch what happens to people dumb enough to go for this.

Once they marry and in most cases quickly Divorce then You are responsible for up to 10 years for there expenses!

Its obviously a dating site that is advertising “beautiful hot women” who will take you for all you have and leave for another to start all over again.

I don’t understand why people have to go out of there own country to locate women , unless the person looking is not pleasing in some way or has a flaw of some sorts in the first place, then my guess is that these international women don’t care about whom they find but rather how much they can take him/her for!

By the way there is much more than looks of a sexy person, there are personality, responsibility,compassion, maturity, giving nature,dependability to consider however too many are concerned only with “sexy looks” and the promise of never ending Sex..,
its a trap and an illusion.

There really are Russian and Romanian women looking to escape Russia and Romania. There are also plenty of Russians and Romanians eager to exploit such women and pocket the dollars of lonely American men who can’t get laid.

Apparently there are beautiful Asian girls who want to date me and they only live 20 minutes away!

Inspired_2write's avatar

@Dutchess_III
You got that right..but 20 min away from your wallet and lifestyle. Lol

@stanleybmanly
Do you think that it is a Prostitution ring?
Possible.

@josie “They want to meet you, marry you, become a US citizen, then divorce you and take half your stuff.”

Yep. Happened to a next-door neighbor of mine. At least he kept his house.

Darth_Algar's avatar

Condolences? It wasn’t me who got suckered in.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@Inspired_2write…I’m a straight female. I would never, not in a million years, pay to have sex with anyone.

Inspired_2write's avatar

@Darth_Algar
Condolences to your neighbor, hope that he learned from his mistake?

stanleybmanly's avatar

@Inspired 2write I think it could be anything from prostitution through marriage brokering, It might even be a scam wherein only the pictures of women are utilized in exploiting the suckers or teenaged boys.

Inspired_2write's avatar

@stanleybmanly
I think so as well, I agree with your take on it.

Inspired_2write's avatar

@stanleybmanly
Watched an episode on “90 Day Fiance” where a TV crew revealed the truth behind one women who was receiving money from six or seven men at the same time by promising to marry them and have “LOTS of SEX”..lol..idiots.

She pocketed the money sent by these men and traveled the world on there dime.

She had friends that were doing the same thing, always coming up with excuses as to why she or they could not travel to meet up and thus these suckers sent money every time!

These men were desperate to be loved and wanted a “sexy” women to make them feel valuable..but more like a “vase” to show there friends that they are capable of getting this?

This is misplaced value on themselves and all the money in the world won’t change that feeling until they in some cases are jolted by this scam into getting professional help.

Its a sad reality unfortunately.
Unbelievably the above women scammed this man for 6 years! ( $50,000 later).

They just say that they want to ”meet” me. I figure they need some home cooked meals and motherly advice. ;-)

Inspired_2write's avatar

@canidmajor
That is how it starts to build up. Then more demands for expenses to meet up with you.
Walk away from this now and maintain your dignity and pocketbook, then remove these ads if you are receiving them.

@Inspired_2write The winky smiley face denoted humor.
It was a joke.

@canidmajor
Oh sorry didn’t see that, my mistake.

I worked with a guy who had a mail-order Russian bride. I was glad to see it, because she was age-appropriate (40 or 50) for him. I lost touch many years ago, I hope it worked out well for them.

Previously he had been focused on desperately poor 20-year olds and it was gross.

stanleybmanly's avatar

When you think about it, anyone with a talent for embellishment could probably build a career through corresponding with lonely men while posing as a young attractive woman.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

Don’t know about Russian women but there is a prince sending me emails that he can’t send me money fast enough. Can you believe it!

Dutchess_III's avatar

I read an article about a 36 year old mom who posed as an 11 year old girl for a week. The results were horrifying.

They are all KGB operatives, looking for a base of operations.

Romanian women are too tired for that, need to go to a health spa & book a rest!

Sagacious's avatar

I suppose it’s possible, but for their sake, I hope they find a new object of affection.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Of course they exist! With expenses, air fare, etc it just costs a measly 10k to get her to the US first. Not her fault haha.

Pinguidchance's avatar

It’s a living.

kritiper's avatar

Naturally! Who wouldn’t want a 65 year old hunk like me???

SEKA's avatar

According to my email there are. I wonder how I got on that list? I’m a female (with a wonderful husband) who is not looking for a wife nor a girlfriend

Inspired_2write's avatar

@SEKA
Its spam sent to everyone, just don’t respond or click on it.

They want your money and/or to live in America.

Watch 90 Day Fiancé.

I’m pretty sure a friend of mine made her way to America being a Russian bride. I never asked her of course, but most of us assume it. She divorced her first husband and now is married to a friend of ours.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Lonely American men have been the focal point of both desperate foreign women AND scam entrepreneurs for as long as this has been a country.

SEKA's avatar

@Inspired_2write I know that. I still wonder what I did to get o their SPAM list

Dutchess_III's avatar

@SEKA nothing except being active on the internet.

Dr. Phil ain’t ever around when you need him. “I’m thinking that you’re thinking that She’s thinking you’re hot. Well you’re not.”

NoMoreY_Aagain's avatar

And as my old pappy used to say, “Learn to think from the neck up, instead of from the belly button down”. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to complete a business transaction with some people in Nigeria.
