How much money would you put on Betelgeuse going supernova soon?

“Of course, astronomically speaking, “soon” could mean today, tomorrow, or 100,000 years from now.”
Betelgeuse’s brightness has decreased recently; a possible sign that it is going supernova.
But then again, its brightness has decreased before, and it’s still there.
What do you think are the odds that this time will be it?
“When it happens (it would have actually happened [about] 690 years before we see it on Earth given the star’s distance) it will be as bright as the full moon.”

0% in the next 10,000 years.
prove me wrong.
A buck three eighty, it will go supernova, by the sixth Monday in February.
It may have already gone supernova in 1586, we just happen to be over 600 light years from it.
None, because I will not be alive to either collect on or pay the bet.
Though the transition through red giant to the point of supernova may be just a wink in the lifetime of a star, that period represents thousands of human lifetimes. It is therefore impossible to predict the occurrence of such an event in the span of any specific individual. I wouldn’t bet a dime.1
I don’t have enough knowledge on this topic in order to make an educated guess, so I’ll pass on the betting. It either has happened or will happen at precisely the right moment to continue on its journey!!!
Betelgeuse will supernova about the time when Hell freezes over.
@Yellowdog, do you suppose the two events would be related?
Let’s start a pool.
Give me April 13th, 2028 for $20.
Some of us on Fluther will be around when Hell freezes over.
^ You sound like you’re looking forward to it!!!

@LadyMarissa Yes. When Hell freezes over, the stars will flicker low and soon the cosmos will be a completely black, cold void. The damned will walk the core of the earth in total frozen and eternal darkness and isolation.
WHY would you want to walk the core of the earth in total frozen and eternal darkness and isolation???
Or wish it on someone else?
Must be that “Christian love” I always hear so much about.
No, the Bible says the opposite. God will keep the heat turned on,
