Don’t worry they are used to being experimented upon and will soon drosophila sleep.
Nope. They’re used to living with you & expect the lights to go on at weird times!!!
More importantly, have you given them names?
When you wake them up, do you apologize?
They are only interrupted if you eat them. You can make them happy by taking the trash out, especially your rotting fruit.
Are they crabby in the morning?
I have a little story about fruit flies for you.
Years ago I was invited to attend a certain technology conference run by our customer. At the beginning of the conference, without saying a word, the customer placed a glass of red wine on the service table near the podium. He then began to speak about his application and the needed functions and requirements: small size, light weight, ultra low power consumption, fully autonomous, sensor package for light, heat, chemical, etc. 3 axis mobility including roll, pitch, and yaw, After about 30 minutes detailing mind boggling requirements, he stopped and said he wanted to show us something. He moved his close up camera to the wine glass and there was a fruit fly sitting on the rim!
“That’s the capability I want. It detected the desired chemical out of all the breath and heat all of you are emitting. It located the source, moved to the location and landed on the rim of this glass – autonomously. And it did it with a brain the size of a poppy seed. This job is not impossible. You just saw it in action.”
And that little critter did it with only 100,000 neurons! Incredible!
One can get fruit fly traps, since that is the only thing that will interrupt them.
