I try not to do it for more than a few minutes at a time. I get myself out of it by thinking about how I came close to death in 2017 and again in 2018.
If I feel sorry for myself too long then I’ll cry and my eyes and nose get all swollen and ugly. Not a pretty sight.

I live with mental illness. I am a professional at feeling sorry for myself.

Jokes aside, I don’t spend too much time feeling sorry for myself these days. I have times when I feel sad, but that’s not the same thing.

No. Things are not bad for me so I really can’t complain. It’s not perfect, for example I have tough mornings on work days, but it could be worse.

I seek support when I’m down because it helps me but I never feel sorry for myself. I think it’s a shame that those who are vocal about hard times are looked down upon. It keeps people who really need help from getting the help they need.

Nope, depending on the sutuation I have a one day max on that emotion for my own mental health.

There isn’t enough spare time to feel sorry for myself. Even worse, my run of luck has been so good, that it would be the height of absurdity to disparage my lot in life.

I try not to. If I am dwelling on it, I try to write it out or I go to online chat supports that I use if it’s really bad. Or I busy myself with other things. I used to dwell on things so bad I gave myself panic attacks almost every night. Now I have some better coping skills.

this is so true and it’s really sad. I’ve had people tell me to “get over it” when I tried to talk and now i just don’t tell that person anything anymore. On one hand it’s okay because you know who you probably shouldn’t trust but on the other hand you just feel worse and more lonely :/. I hate calling those numbers or using the online help-lines but I don’t have much of a choice anymore.

^don’t be afraid to reach out. There’s nothing wrong in doing so. You do learn who to trust when you are struggling.

There should be 8 deadly sins & that would be the added one.
Total waste of time, energy & pathetically self serving!

So no, totally alien to me.

Self pity is a waste of time. When the going gets tough the tough get going. Onward thru the fog.
