What are some sayings or phrases that sound malicious at first, but turn out to be positive?

For example: “May the soil lie light upon your grave.”
Which I initially interpreted as ” may your grave be shallow enough for scavengers to dig up your corpse.”

Break a leg meaning good luck on stage.

@Call_Me_Jay “Break a leg” is a great example. Seems downright hostile until you find that in old vaudeville theatre the actors didn’t get paid unless their leg broke the line of the stage curtain as they got on stage. Break a leg means “hope you get paid today!”
