None.
Only have been a member of a soccer club, from my 6th till my 18th.

The Mile High Club isn’t an official club, right?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@rebbel -It is a club with many members.

A few, and I mostly just do social stuff with them.

I have been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 33+ years. We meet very often, we also have social activities such as hikes, camp outs, parties, dances, barbecues. Plus members go out to eat a lot.

I have belonged to a bicycle club since 1991. Most of the activities center around organized bike rides. We have monthly business meetings, and monthly meetings to plan our annual century ride.

@zenvelo -Is that ride 100 miles?

I’m not a joiner. I’m a member of a church and a life member of an honor society. I’m also a member of a couple of professional organizations. I don’t like country clubs or private tennis clubs and the like. I don’t even like civic clubs.

I’m a member of Fluther :)

Believe it or not, no, for the first time in a long time. 2020 is my start over year for volunteering, boards, committees and politics. Excited.

I barely had two nights home a week with regular meetings, events, council, chamber, etc.. Nice to have a break.

I’m on the board of our local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. We meet once a month, except this month. We had a “retreat” tonight for our new board members to explain our mission and goals.
Then we have a fund raising “soup supper” on the 23rd and a regular board meeting the day after MLK day. Busy month for Habitat.

@Dutchess Great organization!

zenvelo's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille Yes, it’s actually 107 miles routed through the East Bay hills in the San Francisco Bay Area. The club has been putting it on every year since the late Seventies.

They came to my town in 1993. I moved here in 1995. I heard of them but didn’t really understood what they were all about. I would have been a perfect candidate in 95. And my house would be paid off now. So my big push is trying to make sure people know who we are and what we do.

Yeah, member of the local fish and game club have been for years, here in Canada you have to be a member to have restricted firearms.

canidmajor's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 My BIL is a member of a number of fish and game clubs in Victoria, on Vancouver Island and in BC in general. They used to have a Christmas party I’d come up from Seattle to attend every year. What a great time and a great meal!

The Porsche Club of America.

Also, where I live the word club is used very loosely. I haven’t joined any clubs for 2020 that require dues, but I’m thinking of joining the Kibitzers (they meet once a month for food and entertainment) and I’ve been a member in the past of the Spanish American club in the past (they usually have a huge dance party every month with a live band). Last year I went to a baby boomers dance and it was great fun, but I’m not a boomer. Also, my folk dancing “group” performed with the Asian American club and several others for Doctors Without Borders. We raised $5k.

I attend meetings at the philosophy club, freethinkers, and civil discourse if I like their topic for that day, but there aren’t any membership requirements.

Generally, I say I’m not a “joiner” but where I live it’s so casual the club atmosphere. If you show up or don’t show up it’s fine. The clubs with fees are $10—$15 a year. Except the Porsche club which is a national organization. I think I pay $45 a year.

Not so much any more – I was a member of several professional organization and one or two civc ones up until about five years ago.

I got really tired of the politics. Even in a small (50 person) local group, there’s always one or two people who lust for power, instead of furthering the organization. Or they want to leverage the organization for their personal / financial / professional advantage. That just got really old, and the organization basically floundered when that happened.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@zenvelo -That sounds fun! My sister does something similar every year and has a great time!

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 -Do you have shooting matches?
@JLeslie -All sound fun!
@elbanditoroso- I have seen the same thing with some of the artist groups I was in.It’s entertaining until they affect my work. lol

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille yeah we do shooting trap is loads of fun.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 – I LOVE that but haven’t been in awhile. I screwed up my shoulder so I have to wait on it to heal so I can mess it up again.
Maybe a 10 gauge shotgun might put it back into place. LOL

I’m a member of the American Sewing Guild. I don’t really sew (I wish I had more time to sew) but I started going to local meetings to support a friend’s group and I attend their local events and meetings.

I used to belong to a local polymer clay group (guild) but the meetings were too far away and a chore to attend (the meeting was an entire Saturday once a month). They would have an annual workshop which was fun but it didn’t pay to be a member just to go to one annual workshop.

I belong to a book group at a library. I’ve been going to it for over 8 years and now there are some of us that have become friends outside the group. We go to dinner and stuff like that.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

I think we would be friends URL @jca2. Especially if you bought dinner. :]
