What is it with Witcher?

Asked by filmfann (52488points) January 11th, 2020

A lot of people rave about it.
After two episodes I still am as confused as I was when it started.
Is it all that, or overrated crap meant to sate those hungry for more GOT or LOTR?

The show is jumping around between different timelines, and it does not tell you so.
There is a 60 year difference between the invasion of Cintra and the appearance of Ciri, and the first appearances of Geralt and Yennefer.

Play the video game, its not all about the series, which I find mediocre.

Netflix has more crappy series than good ones, same as Amazon Prime. Saw the trailer of Witcher and saw what I despise, bad digital fx.

Also not a fan of the actor. I blame him for giving life to the crappiest Superman in history. Lol Seriously, not his fault. I’m more interested in him playing a villain. He’s got the acting skills for that imo. Liked him in Mission Impossible.

@mazingerz88 I like him as Superman, but favor him as Napoleon Solo in The Man From UNCLE.

^^Man’s got cinematic charm but dependent on the role really. He was also good in Immortals. Saw him in the Witcher trailer though and thought, nah.

Watching Witcher and also having a hard time getting into it. How many episodes do you think warrants a fair chance?

KNOWITALL's avatar

@raum We watched about 4 episodes. Not a masterpiece.

@raum

I think the FCC mandates viewing a whole season.

If you fail to meet this requirement, then the FCC will restrict you to watching nothing but Faux News, and whatever is shown by Sinclair. ;-0

@KNOWITALL I think I’ll try to get through four episodes. Don’t think my opinion of it will probably change. But at least I’ll feel like I have it a go.

@Brian1946 LOL! I don’t need an FCC mandate. I have a ridiculous sense of follow through. Even for crappy books where I’m like Why am I still reading this?! It’s a weird compulsion.

@raum Good luck, I was bored to tears. I wasn’t enthralled with Game Of Thrones either. It got better after Season 1, though.
