It will never, ever happen. As long as there are people (and nations) there will be differences – in color, wealth, philosophy, personality, etc. And people tend to group themselves with like minded people. And sometimes a strong, powerful, but nasty leader appears who goads people into action.

There will always be a lust or a need for power or dominance. It happens with all animal species, including humans.

About the best you can hope for is that mankind figures out a way to make war less lethal, less damaging. But I don’t see that happening in our lifetimes.

Put women in charge of everything

Make those that declare war spend at least a week fighting on the front lines with their armies.

^^ Agreed. The leaders who declare war have to physically lead the first charge on the ground. Gun in hand, running toward the enemy.

The death of them all. War is something mankind does so it can’t be stopped.

The extinction of the human race. Nothing short of that will stop wars between people.

Why do some people expect humans to be perfection?

We have imperfections.

We war. Many animals war. Our one set aside is we might be the only ones to obsess over it, feel guilt, and grief over it.

We are animals.we build home, so? Birds, insects, and mammals do that.

We mourn our dead. So do elephants, and a possible cluster of other critters.

We communicate verbally, so do lots of creatures, and, might I point out it may be not a positive thing.

I could spend all night adding to this list, but I don’t want to.

Humans are animals. So? We might cause our own extinction. Fine. Enjoy the ride, and remember to keep head and hands inside at all times. Not because we care about your head, or hands, we just don’t want to wear the splatter.

@Patty_Melt

Indeed. Existence is war. All of life is a competition for resources and Mother Nature is pitiless.

I like @Patty_Melt ‘s answer. We do some good things but, like all animals, we consume resources: food, water, air, and unless there is an over-abundance must compete with other animals to survive.

Now to answer the question:.

Science can end wars in a couple of ways .
1) Someone can discover a tasteless, odorless drug that secretly lowers testosterone levels in men.
2) The fusion reaction is harnessed providing limitless free energy to the entire world. That cold be used to provide clean water, clean air, and grow crops for food.
3) Women should be limited to only having one baby..

@LuckyGuy

I gotta say, I’m not sure how any of those things would bring about an end to war and conflict.

Patty_Melt's avatar

It might not end conflict, but it would greatly reduce potential for conflict. Increased resources, lowered population, so presumably the biggest topic for conflict would be religious beliefs.
I would contest that with the nature of the beast.
What sets us apart from other creatures is out eternal quest. We will never have all the answers, and only knowing all could quench that need. It is a driving need which covers our beliefs, pursuits, need to conquer.
What we truly want to conquer is knowledge, but frustration channels that drive into other things.
So, we are doomed to conflict by what we do not know.
Other animals are satiated by full bellies, but we are not.

Instead of blaming, we should understand we are animals, subject to drives we cannot control.
Murder will happen. War will happen. Joys and despairs will happen. If no one person can control themselves, how can we hope to reign in humankind? We can’t.
