Whose birthday is it, January 17?

Asked by Patty_Melt (17519points) January 17th, 2020

Betty White is ninety eight years young today!
I have on disc an episode of Millionaire, when she played the part of a burger serving cafe waitress in Keokuk, Iowa, who receives that secret dose of a million dollars. In the show, a secret benefactor would give a million dollars to some worthy person via courier with a cashier’s check. The condition was they could tell nobody where they got it, except a spouse.
She took her friend to Europe. There she met a man who turned out to be the prince of a family in financial ruin.
Since then she has entertained millions of fans in many different roles. She’s a playful girl, and probably has never made an enemy in her life.

Happy birthday, Betty!

Are there any memories of her you wish to share?

Is there someone else whose birthday we should I observe today?

Ben Franklin was also born on this date. There is a symmetry to him and BettyWhite sharing this auspicious natal day.

King’s birthday isn’t until the 20th…this Monday @janbb.

janbb's avatar

No Dutch, that’s not true. His birthday is on the 15th but they made it a Monday celebrated holiday.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

I stand corrected. I guess they changed it to the 3rd Monday in January, what ever that date is, so everyone has that day off.

@SergeantQueen i’ve been wondering about your dad’s insurance policies. Will you vouch for them?

LadyMarissa's avatar

I’ve heard Steve Harvey claim that he shares a birthday with Betty & that he only hopes to live as long!!! My Dad’s birthday is coming up on the 23rd.

SEKA's avatar

Betty says she’s lived so long because se drinks vodka and eats hot dogs in that order

Can’t decide which is more precious, Betty, or her baby sloth.
I know, Betty hugging a baby sloth!
I watched that when it first aired. Thanks for digging it up.

janbb's avatar

@Seka So you have to drnk the vodka before eating the hot dogs?

Patty_Melt's avatar

Maybe to kill the burn?

SEKA's avatar

@janbb That’s what she said, so I guess the answer is yes in that order. I don’t drink vodka and I seldom eat hot dogs so I have no clue

SergeantQueen's avatar

You boil the hot dogs in vodka

stanleybmanly's avatar

The boiling point of vodka? Will the hot dogs be warm before the alcohol is boiled off?

stanleybmanly's avatar

Why not fire up the alcohol & “cool roast” the dogs in the flames?

SergeantQueen's avatar

Apparently there isn’t a boiling point of vodka.

Inject it into your veins as you eat hot dogs.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Maybe dip hot dog, bun and all, into the vodka, like au jus.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

Vodka works in Gatoraide. With or without hotdogs.
