What do you think of this Omelet recipe?
I saw this Omelet Recipe with photos on the Internet, and before I actually try it for myself, I’d like to get the input of The Collective.
Should I try this? Would you? Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, because when it comes to cooking, I have to consult a recipe to discover how to boil water properly!

I’ve done this before on camping trips. It works.
The one thing you have to watch out for is the zip-lock bag. The plastic will soften at boiling temperatures, and you don’t want to rupture it. Keep the bag from contacting the metal pan. Also, don’t jostle the bag about as you cook it: leave it be. The last thing you want to have happen is the bag break: then you have a mess.
By the way, I’m not sure that this is an omelet proper. It really is more of an under-aerated scrambled egg; it’s tasty though!
There are special bags, designed specifically for boiling, and they are what I use in my Tilia® Food-Saver.
Could I use those bags instead, and not use the Zip-Loc® ones at all?

I think it’s making me hungry.
looks safe to me, as long as it’s those sturdier bags.
Although, I prefer to carmelize my ‘shrooms, and that would be impossible with boiling.
Freezer bags work fine, so long as you handle them correctly. I’ve done this camping before: if it works in the middle of nowhere, then it should work in a kitchen near you.
IMO, I think that you would be money ahead not springing for the foodsaver bags. They tend to get expensive; but if they offer you the peace of mind that you need, by all means, use em.
Appreciate the advice about the foodsaver bags, but I already own the $200 device, and it does a wonderful job, and the bags are not all that expensive, really.
