Is this a hypothetical cane?
Or an actual one?
@rebbel -It’s real. The design is very simple. No detail, really. Wrong color though. It’s metal and copper colored.
I want it to be some form of black/charcoal grey but am interested in different paint finish options.
I think you should paint people on it carrying American flags.
You could call it “Citizen Cane”
(obscure movie reference….)
Zebra pattern.
For a serious schtick.
Paint it with glue and sprinkle it abundantly with crystal sugar.
For an imagenary stick.
I saw on years ago crafted in a shiny black background with Gold outline of a dragon going up the cane…but you could use an design outlined in gold an it would reflect the light.
My first thought was bright colors like a Haitian painting, but then you clarified that you want it to be dressy.
I’d think about the colors I wear. Maybe navy, or black, some grey and brown. Could add some gold and silver, but that might jump out too much. I’m not sure if I would go with hard lines or very muted. I do both when I make jewelry, it would be hard to decide. Either way I tend to like a more random look.
Thank you guys for the ideas :)
If no one is going to actually use it you could cover with pieces of old costume jewelry and hang on a wall. It would be cute. I have a friend who did this with a small old wooden chair and no one comes into her house without noticing and commenting on it. If it’s a project for a kids gluing buttons on things is fun and cute. My kids made their grandmothers wastebaskets by covering straw baskets with buttons. Very cute.
@Sagacious -It’s a cane that I use. I do have a sculptured dress cane but it’s starting to get damaged and it’s the wrong color (brown) so I won’t bring it.
I think I might do something with automotive paint.
@Patty_Melt – I like that greyhound handle. I haven’t carved a handle yet but the idea is there.
Use a photochromic paint.
