In pictures, he is about the same height as Diana. She was tall for a woman, so I would say he would be, being well fed and healthy, a little above average for an Englishman. English soldiers are generally shorter than Americans, about 5’8 or 9, so I would put him at at 5’10 or 11.

close up he didn’t seem that tall as I was 5’7” standing near him.

His stage makeup was the most disappointing thing that I remember when close enough to notice the eye shadow and blush..I suppose for photographs in the media..this is standard?

But he was a nice and charming personality and very intelligent as I talked briefly with him.

I have met him several times and he is about the same height as my brother, which is 5 foot 8 inches. So your husband is correct. That was also the same height as Diana, Princess of Wales which is why she appeared taller than him in heels.
