Steven Spielberg with Jaws.

Orson Welles, with Citizen Kane.

@lucillelucillelucille Spielberg’s very first full-length film probably was a TV movie called “Duel.” Very well directed. Shots were already Spielbergian imo. :)

^^^the first movie Sofia Coppola directed was actually The Virgin Suicides. Also a great movie, but not Lost In Translation.
