Could you collapse a newborn's lungs with a bulb nose sucker?

Asked by Dutchess_lll (8753points) February 6th, 2020

I was always terrified of that happening! I figure the newborn’s lungs were about the same size as the bulb.

Doubtful. The bulb is incapable of pulling enough vacuum.

There is a significantly smaller sized bulb for doing CPR on an infant, but it’s still larger than the nose bulbs I’ve seen.

I doubt it. The air passages have connections to openings other than the lung (the other nostril and the mouth).
