No.

I almost never see lamb chops in American restaurants. Rack of lamb yes, in expensive restaurants, and sometimes steak restaurants.

Lamb ribs in a famous rib place in Memphis.

Lamb at Mediterranean restaurants, usually gyro/shawarma meat.

American restaurants don’t even put it in shepherds pie, and it’s supposed to be lamb. Beef is technically cottage pie.

I buy lamb chops once in a while in the supermarket. Lamb is quite expensive.

Just one or two upscale steakhouses and it’s expensive. On special occasion I’ll get a rack from Sam’s club and cook them at home. I love it but it’s a rare treat as it is unhealthy and expensive.

Lamb chops are very rarely on restaurant menus in my area. Lamb chops are very expensive, even when bought in the supermarket. Sometimes I get them at Costco, and it comes out to about 2 or 3 dollars each, and each one is really about three bites of meat.

Many people don’t like lamb because it has an unusual flavor and can leave a fatty film in the mouth.

In diners and occasionally restaurants, I will see rack of lamb which is a huge hunk of lamb, usually with a tomato-garlic sauce on it. It has a big bone sticking out of it. It’s good but too big to eat in one sitting.

Two here in San Francisco that are superb:

Kokkari Estiatorio, Traditional Greek food, one of the best restuarants in the City. My old girlfriend went there every Holy Saturday to have lambchops as part of our Easter celebration.

John’s Grill where Sam Spade went to eat lambchops. They still show “Sam Spade’s Lamb Chops” on the menu, and they are delicious.

There’s a couple of places around here that are more upscale. They probably serve it at those places, but I wouldn’t know. I don’t eat at restaurants that require me to wear a jacket.

I don’t really see them on menus any more. My Mom used to make them.

Yes. We have two Mediterranean restaurants here that I have visited and there are several lamb choices at each.

@zenvelo. I had forgotten all about John’s . I suppose it’s because I no longer have any reason to frequent the financiaol district since the wife retired from the engineering firm. Do you remember Alfred’s? And the Fly Trap?

There is a Japanese restaurant a block from here that had lamb chops for the first 3 years after opening. And it was ridiculous. They weren’t listed anywhere on the menu, but they were unbelievable. We turned all of our friends and anyone visiting onto the lambchops just to see the expressions on their faces at the suggestion. The bento lambchop lunch, miso soup, salad, prawn & veg tempura, 4 California rolls and 2 perfectly grilled chops—7 bucks— unbelievable. I remember and MISS those days. The wife and I ordered extra chops whenever we took newcomers to lunch, because the know-nothings invariably ignored our suggestion (just as I would) that they order the lambchop bento. When the chops would arrive, the wife and I would grin like banshees at the stunned faces of the uninitiated. I asked this question because I’ve been having dreams about those lambchops. The place is still a great deal for lunch, but no more lamb chops. You can’t get in there at night and they don’t take reservations. Gotta get the food to go.
