Have you discovered high-resolution audio and enjoying it?
I’ve known for years that the songs I purchased from net sites like the Apple Store and burned on CDs in my laptop….the sound quality of the CDs is inferior compared to commercial CDs sold by music companies.
I still do have a few commercial CDs which I enjoy listening more than those personal ones I burned. I recently stumbled on High-Res Audio which is way, way better than commercial CDs. Here is the link on that.

Just want to hear from a jelly who has tried it and find out how it feels listening to music in high-res audio. Thanks.

Yes, one could label me an “audiophile”. I used to download music online and stream via Spotify but recently I’ve come to find the quality from those sources to be inferior and I’ve started ripping lossless files from CDs and playing them through an external DAC (digital audio converter) and headphone amp. The difference in quality is amazing. I’ve also experimented with streaming MQA masters from Tidal (via my MQA-compatible DAC). I don’t have much experience with Sony’s “Hi Res” branding, but it’s really the same thing, it just refers to higher bitrates (most of my music does not rise above CD quality, but I do have some higher-res recordings. You need a high-res compatible DAC to listen to them properly).
^^Thanks. Can you give me an estimate on how much it would cost to set-me up basic equipment to start enjoying high-res audio. And which equipment, maybe even the brand. Really slow when it comes to technical stuff. Lol
I may not be the best resource because I listen exclusively with headphones, so I have a desktop DAC and headphone amp (really simple setup that didn’t cost that much). If you’re planning on a big stereo surround-sound system I don’t know too much about that. Are you planning on listening to music from your computer?
^^I only have an old MacBook Pro from 2013 that I can connect with Bose speakers. Wouldn’t mind getting a good set of headphones. If that’s enough that would be great!
Also have a low-end Sony surround system attached to a HDTV and Sony PS3.
And it would be great
I’ve heard it and loved it. Hard to afford sometimes though! I still miss the days of Quadrophonic sound. You could drive along in your car and hear 4 different instruments coming from 4 different directions. Put you right in the band. And sometimes the sound would swirl around the car. It was great.
