Do you see the irony in getting an email from an internet email list telling you that you have unsubscribed?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33577points) February 19th, 2020

Just happened to me.

Somehow I had been added to a mailing list from some art gallery (in England of all places!) – I am sure I never subscribed. So I clicked the “unsubscribe” button in order to not get anything else from them.

What did they do? Sent me an email – telling me I won’t get emails any more.

Seems ridiculous to me.

In general, you should not click on those “unsubscribe” links.
All it does is tell them, that your email-address is in use, painting a target on your back for more spam mail.

I’m fine with it. It’s like a confirmation it went through. I do see the irony though, most unsubscribes just give you a message on the website that you have been unsubscribed.

They miss you, man.
Now that you’re playing hard to get, they must chase you. XD
