Are we likely to see a crime wave (bank and store robberies) committed by people wearing white anti-flu face masks?

These seem to be very popular these days.

No. But my son texted me to report that folks are cleaning out the local Costco outlets.

Now officials are saying that the masks do NOTHING to stop the covid19 so there is NO need to waste your money

In my neck of the woods robbers are wearing hoodies & pulling the drawstring very tight around there face so only 1 eye is still showing & they can see what they are doing but you can only describe one eye

A mask, will only have a partial affect on hiding your identity. There are still other ways of detection of a criminal’s identity.
Finger prints, DNA, tattoos, etc…

That doesn’t mean that people may not try, to commit more crimes. But. It ultimately, will not protect them.
It depends on the crime. More resources, are used on higher crimes.

I definitely saw more masks in the airport last week when I flew home. I don’t think you’ll see more crime, that’s interesting where your creative mind goes.

When I lived in south Florida you had to remove sun glasses in banks, not sure if they can do anything about a mask. What if the person is having cancer treatment? They often wear masks in public.

I doubt anyone risking jail-time was waiting around for a virus and people wearing masks to finally pounce on that 7/11.

A t-shirt does a good job of hiding your face too.

When the wind is whipping and temps are freezing quite a few folks wear ski masks?
They are quite common at bus stops and hardly attract attention in the dead of winter.

Banks and other public buildings here do ask that you uncover your face when entering.

^When I ran Halloween venues, I made everyone take off their masks and look into the camera, before entering. Then, I let them put it back on…

There aren’t many face covering reasons, otherwise down here.

^ That is a perfectly reasonable request.

When I wrote my comment it was 21 F outside with 20mph winds. Wind chill 6F. Many people have their faces covered.
