What movie makes you cry?
“Big Fish” starring Albert Finney gets me every time but “Ponette” tops them all and I have only been able to watch it once.
What movie gets to you?

Beaches, Marley & Me, the Pursuit of Happyness, Schindler’s List, Stepmom. Togo about killed me, the sled dog movie.
So many. Anything with animals (Lassie, any dog movie, Bambi, A Dog’s Purpose, Harry and Tonto).
I just saw Forrest Gump a few weeks ago and I cried a little.
Except for Bambi, all.
I’m kidding a bit, but I’m very easily moved (these days).
I can cry watching Law and Order.
Or Analyze This.
For the record, I don’t cry during movies. It may appear that way though because sometimes dust gets in my eyes and I may have some non-emotional tear-responses like in Rudy.
I watched Saving Private Ryan last night. Tons of big sobbing spasms.
Big hugs to all :)
@jca2 -I didn’t see that movie but the book got to me:)
My Life Without Me
Armageddon
Robot And Frank
Champ
Deathly Hallows part II (When Snape dies)
In my advancing years, I’ve become a big softy. I can tear up watching a commercial.
The hardest I’ve cried in a movie theater was watching Sophie’s Choice. The movie I most often watch that makes me weepy is Casablanca. There is a lot of pain and sentiment in that movie.
Some say a man crying is a big softy, others say he’s brave & shows courage by admitting to it.
Me, I say It’s neither, It’s just me behaving perfectly naturally & not giving a shit!
So yeah, movies I’ve openly sobbed to include…
E.T…the end kills me.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
A Beautiful Life
Wall-e…near the end when Eve thinks he’s lost his personality, I cried rivers at the cinema with my wife & kids right next to me lol
@ucme -I have seen the last two on your list but not the others. I have never cried at a theater but have fallen asleep during “The DaVinci Code”
I even read the book and wanted to see the film. baby.
It bored the hell out of me.
If I saw the ones I listed at the theater or “The Shootist” I’d cry like a
@lucillelucillelucille You need to take a pillow when you go to the cinema, nowt wrong with that!
I drifted off when I saw Valkyrie, Tom Cruise in an eyepatch sends you into an induced coma.
@ucme -He has that affect on me in anything he does.
I will get one of these for sure.
Practical and good looking!
@ucme A hat that would rival the Queen’s!
I am wearing that to the next movie I try to look at.
I guess the arm holes are there if you get an itchy head.
@ucme – Or want to aerate your ears?
@ucme -LOL! I think it’d be a good look for a dating profile.
@ucme -He won’t see anything with that hat on.
@Sagacious -I liked that movie :)
AI-artificial intelligence is a crier too.
@filmfann -I haven’t seen that one. “The Shootist” gets me
Crumbs!
How did I forget Kramer vs Kramer, I’m filling up just thinking about it.
@ucme -Is that the one where Meryl Streep goes to court with a hand puppet that turns out to be Dustin Hoffman??
“Ben is Back”
“Beautiful Boy”
“To Kill a Mockingbird”
“Pain and Glory”
“Boys Don’t Cry”
Don’t laugh at me people
Zombieland
It is funny until that point when the dog Woody Harrelson talks about turns out to be his son. I effing lose it.
I did laugh so hard that it literally brought me to tears at the end of “Little Miss Sunshine.”
I don’t cry in movies.
But, having said it, there are two movies that I find very moving.
Saving Private Ryan, and recently Last Full Measure.
It’s all about survivor guilt.
“Brian’s Song” made me cry. First movie I ever cried at.
There was one other, about a woman who was unjustly thrown into a psycho ward and couldn’t escape, although she was actually quite sane. I want to say it was Jessica Lange? She was so abused, raped, mentally mistreated…I cried for an hour after that movie.
That is the only time I cried at a movie.
@Dutchess_lll -That movie was on last night and it was supposed to be a bio about actress Frances Farmer. Her family members have since refuted the book upon which that movie was based.
Tue or not, it was sad.
Who played Francis Farmer?
Oh. Thanks. My husband couldn’t understand why I was crying so hard. I think me veing pregnant at the time contributed to it.
“Where the Red Fern Grows.” ‘Nuff said.
@Dutchess_lll -Even so, the idea of what she supposedly went through is horrifying.
@raum -Even Bubba Hotep??
Haven’t watched it yet, but probably. :P
@raum -Do not take that as a recommendation to spend time watching it.
It does star Bruce Campbell, well known author of books such as: If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor and the ever popular Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way: A Novel
So more of a laugh-until-I-cry type of thing?
