Agreeable is the first to come to mind. Some people seem eager to please and hesitant to assert opinions or feelings of their own and are much more likely to latch on to those around them, making them easy to influence.
The “conflict avoiding” type.
A person who is a follower and not a leader.
Dumb… but on reflection, what I mean is obedient to authority, which I file under “dumb” in my personal discrimination index. Authority-minded people probably don’t think of that as dumb.
In extreme circumstances, things get interesting. During the Korean War, those American prisoners who were most likely to be permanently brainwashed were those who were most adamant in their point of view. Once they passed a tipping point, there was no going back.
Compliant. Submissive. Conformist.
@ANef_is_Enuf Agreeableness has a definition in psychology and psychometrics, and it’s more about being kind and considerate.
Religious. They’ve been trained from infancy to deny their own senses, to deny the truth, and to accept the impossible and miraculous.
Just for context, I found this:
Using the results of the questionnaires, the researchers established three personality types: Fearful, Malevolent, and Socially Apt.
Fearful people, who were shy, introverted, and anxious, were more likely to be persuaded by authority figures, and to be influenced by the actions or opinions of others.
Socially Apt people (the name is pretty self-explanatory) were more likely to be persuaded to do something if it was “consistent with their beliefs or a prior act,” the researchers wrote.
Meanwhile, Malevolent people (harsh!) were “less willing to obey authority and less willing to return a favour,” the study authors found — but they could be influenced by scarcity.
