Is prayer helping reduce the spread of coronavirus?
I drove by two churches yesterday on my way to get groceries. Both of them have message boards – they each said something like “Pray for God’s help for coronavirus” or similar.

The South Korean outbreak burst out of two church congregations. The early epicenter in New Rochelle New York was a synagogue.
I guess they didn’t pray hard enough.
Well, don’t get in a prayer circle.
We should nail the church doors shut on these imbeciles.
March 23, 2020 – Baton Rouge, La. – “The Life Tabernacle Church hosted 1,825 people at their Sunday morning service.26 buses were used to pick people up from around the Baton Rouge area and transport them to Sunday service.Pastor Tony Spell says the way to handle a pandemic is through the healing hand of Jesus.”
March 22, 2020 – Hempfield, PA – “About 200 people gathered to worship Sunday at Word of Life Church in Hempfield at a time when most other churches either canceled or livestreamed services and when government officials are urging gatherings of 10 or more people to be halted.
“Senior Pastor Tom Walters said he understands other churches’ decision to close their doors or livestream their events. However, he told his congregation the nation’s reaction to coronavirus “could possibly be, disguised in everything else, a direct attack on the church.” ”
No, but I think we should allow people some hope in thinking that they are helping. Tough times right now, people need to stay positive and if praying allows them that, let them do it.
Just don’t do what @zenvelo or @Call_Me_Jay said. Pray 6feet away from other people
You might have cited it @Call_Me_Jay but I saw a church on facebook say they’d ignore the gathering ban too, and invited sick people to show up to be prayed on
Why would you pray to the guy who invented the covid 19 virus and unleashed it on the world?
I don’t have a problem with people who draw comfort from prayer. That is completely their choice. I only have a problem with it if it endangers others as in the case of churches still congregating publicly.
The Lord is my shepherd
I shall not cough…
Whatever “magic” you can conjure up is welcome. I’ve spent most of my life with various people praying for or over me, and I’ve been so damned lucky, that I thank them one and all.”
