Does God, or priests, get frustrated when people abuse prayer?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) March 23rd, 2020

Is their a daily limit to praying for divine intervention?
Also who else can one pray to?

It doesn’t matter to a “God” that doesn’t exist and the priests don’t care as long as you put money on the plate.

How would one abuse prayer?

“Oh Lord, won’t cha buy me a Mercedes Benz? My friends all have Porches, I must make amends.”

I keep praying for advice from my mess I made with university and relationships. Been 20 years. I’m finally moving on, but dang that was rough.

Do you think such abusers are aware of the abuse? Are they guilty if they know no better? Should God punish them for praying?

@stanleybmanly I got the idea from the Dungeons and Dragons spell side effect of mis-use of the contact outer planes spell. Every use has a risk of ability score damage for 6 weeks.

Just being tongue in cheek. I hope to get more novel questions where I can. Its hard to get unique questions seeing that Covid19 is on every channel.

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV ?
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV ?

Prayer is a crutch, just like alcohol, drugs, and any of a dozen things that people can abuse. The only difference is that prayer has the whole religio-industrial complex built up behind it.

“Religion is the opium of the people” is one of the most frequently paraphrased statements of German philosopher and economist Karl Marx.

In Orthodox Judaism, you are not supposed to ask God for favors. God knows what you want. Why should it make a difference if you ask him for something, especially if you try to suck up to him by telling him how great he is.

Imagine this as a prayer: God, this is a magnificent almost perfect Universe. There is just one small defect that I can see, which I point out so that you can attain perfection. This defect relates to the amount of money I have….

To say God has a limit to tolerance of prayer requests suggests a limit to God, who has no limits.

@filmfann your statement begs the question – does that also mean that God has the capacity to do unlimited evil?

I think it’s quite obvious that he does @elbanditoroso.

Like any good parent, God uses his mother’s ears & ignores the whiny child so He can take care of the children truly in need!!!

Then why hasn’t he eradicated the virus @LadyMarissa ?
