Are you keeping the same hours as you did before covid-19?

Asked by Jeruba (56106points) March 23rd, 2020

What has it done to your daily clock?

If you’re staying at home instead of going out to work, if you’re covering essential jobs in the community, if you’re managing more or fewer duties than before—how has the present situation affected your daily routine?

Keeping earlier hours? later? longer? shorter? More sleep, less sleep, different meal schedule?

More affected or less affected by others’ timetables?

And—are any of those changes good?

Or are you making an effort to stay in your pre-cov routine?

Complete loss of work.

Sleep? Ha! I’m trying.

I’ve been trying to stay, at home. I haven’t been around any of my friends, or family members. I’ve been sitting at home, alone…

I talk to people, on my phone. That’s it…

I’m getting really frustrated with the situation. And, I’m drinking too much…

I’m retired, and a bit hermitty anyway, so the basics haven’t changed much, but the emotional toll is getting high. Eating less (no interest, and I usually love to cook), sleeping harder but getting less rest, stuff like that.
I am extraordinarily fortunate in so many ways, I despair for those who struggle so deeply with this.

Excluding commute, no.

Going to bed a little later and sleeping a bit later in the mornings except for this morning when I got out of bed early and dressed to go food shopping only to find the store had changed its hours.

Oddly enough, I’m sleeping pretty well but the days, especially evenings, can be hard. Since I’m retired, I generally eat when I feel hungry – not set times – but that’s about the same. I’m cooking a little more than usual and eating fairly well.

I’m coping pretty well except when I get anxious about catching the disease and having a bad case or possibly dying alone.

Slight correction: I meant yes.

I work from home without regular work hours. My hours are the same as always. I’m not very regimented when it comes to sleep. I go to bed between 10:00pm and 1:00am usually. Wake between 6:00am and 8:00am. At times I have my sleep interrupted and am up in the middle of the night, but most of the time I sleep through.

I’m retired and the only social activity I use to get with crowds was with my Hawaiian outrigger canoe club (practices, races, parties). At club get togethers there was lots of hugging and kissing (I’m an introvert and don’t miss that at all).

Of course my cane club is shut down so I’m walking and canoe padding more with my wife lately. Also doing a lot more yard work lately.

I’m going to bed an hour or two later and getting up an hour later. Plus, no 3-hour commute per day, so that’s nice.

Other than that, I’m working about 9AM to 3PM, same as usual — plus a couple hours a night for job number two.

I’m making a point of keeping the same morning routine to keep my ass moving.

Self employed, so complete shut down of business for the duration.
Fortunately, more than enough funds in the ucme locker to cover us.

My husband and I both are keeping the same hours.

Yup. No changes. I work for myself, by myself.

Yes. But I’m also not working so…..

Since my son, DIL, and grandson are staying with us – and since he has the lung capacity and vocal cords worthy of a sea going, ocean vessel fog horn, our hours are controlled by him. He’s still nursing and lets everyone know when he’s hungry, or when he does not see Mom or Dad, or when he drops something and can’t reach it, or…

I work second shift and I’m keeping the same hours but I’m sleeping in more than usual because of the stress of having to work in grocery right now.

I can easily sleep 10–12 hours on my day off but I have many nightmares.

Last week and over the weekend, I was up in the middle of the night and sleeping a bit later in the mornings “Later” sleeping in the mornings for me means maybe waking up at 8:30 instead of 7.

This past few days, I’m falling asleep at the regular time and waking up early – 6:30 or 7.

I am working from home. What I enjoy is not having the stress of having to get to sleep at night and not having the stress of having to wake up early and deal with the morning hassle of getting my daughter off to school, gulping down the coffee, jumping in the shower and running late on my 45 minute ride to work. It’s relaxing to wake up and just have coffee at my leisure and hang out. My working from home is not stressful at all. I’m saving on gas money, too, about 100 dollars per week, plus wear and tear on the car.

Maybe it can become permanent @jca2 ? I hope so!
