I am less formal when I speak, on average, because most of the time I’m speaking to close friends and family members with whom I am informal by default. I also put more thought into what I write, so it is bound to be a bit more formal. Othertimes i just lowkey say whatevs bruh.
Indeed, but I also write differently depending on whether I’m working, fluthering, or texting.
I don’t write the way I speak because people don’t read the way they listen.
If I wrote the way I spoke, quite a bit would be difficult for you yanks to understand.
@ucme- With a little bit of luck we’ll figure it out.
@ucme Holy shit! What do you sound like after a few beers?

It of course must vary with circumstances. I write and speak much too quickly which means writing is primarily about editing the consequences of flying fingers on tiny keyboards.
@stanleybmanly -I don’t make as many typos whenI speak. see what I mean?
Exactly. Moreover, there is little concern with correcting vocal errors in audible conversation.
Nah. Listening to me talk is very confusing at times. My sentences are too long, I keep searching for words, and I go off on tangents.
Fortunately, I was smart enough to “meet” my husband through text first. By the time he heard me speak, he was hooked.
@lucillelucillelucille He is Blessed with a booming voice!
@Patty_Melt Haha, let me translate what I said for you.
“Come on there’s no way pretty woman, behave, I don’t talk nothing like them!”
Them being the cockney folks in lucys vid.
Well, I admit I couldn’t pick through word for word (is it still a word if so bastardized?) but I did get that you were referring to the video, and that you were denying. It’s hot though, and you mustn’t do that again without prior warning, unless you don’t mind being attacked by a yank.
I write and express myself better than I speak. Less anxiety in writing.

Yes, when I do my writing Grammarly kicks in and points out grammar mistakes. But if I’m writing a dialog and the character talks a certain way Grammarly does not recognize it. Sometimes on these sites I’ll forget and write the way I talk and I’m sure that what I write sometimes goes over a reader’s head.
