I like to point at geese & stir my coffee anti clockwise!
What a rebel eh?

Photography. It’s been a passion of mine since I was little. I got it from my mama. :D

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme This song is about people who exactly that.
You are not alone

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Jonsblond -I remember that about you! :)

KNOWITALL's avatar

My hobby is probably learning something new and interesting, and I love cooking and trying new recipe’s.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@KNOWITALL -I need to know more people who cook :)
What’s for dinner?

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

I can strum a few chords on guitar. I read a lot. I like simple woodworking but I don’t have a place to set up my table saw these days. I camp and fish. Though I rarely catch fish, it’s really just an excuse to be outdoors. I bicycle around routinely, and take a few out of town trips every year. I garden and cook a little.

There are other things but maybe I dabble too shallow to feel they are hobbies.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Call_Me_Jay -Nothing wrong with varied interests.
Have you carved fishing lures? I tried that before

cookieman's avatar

Been reading comic books since I was about 12.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@cookieman – Do you have Batman?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Cooking—- I was doing spaghetti sauce and Chili con Carne from scratch when I was 10. I’ll tackle any recipe.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Tropical_Willie -I like to make spaghetti sauce too and believe me, I hate to cook. lol

KNOWITALL's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille My grandmother taught me to cook for a large family but since there’s only two of us, I often send leftover’s to the young neighbors across the street.

Tonight, I’m making chicken fried steak (beef), with mashed potatoes, gravy and either a side salad or veggie. I’m thinking about trying to make Dandelion jelly but I’m not sure if I want to tackle it.

@Tropical I’d love to see those recipes (from scratch, that is.) I didn’t know you liked to cook? What’s your favorite things to cook?

ucme's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille I feel I owe you a proper answer.
I like to run, workout & goof off like a big dopey kid, but don’t consider any of these as hobbies.
It is said that every man should have a hobby, perhaps not!

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@KNOWITALL That sounds very good! My grandpa used to eat dandelion greens and squab, but we we won’t talk about that. :P

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme What about long walks on the beach? LOol <—I’m leavin’ that

ucme's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille I run on the beach, does that count?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@ucme – Only if in slow motion.

Photographer, both terrestrial and extraterrestrial
Play banjo in a bluegrass band
Brew beer
Hike and backpack
Dungeons and Dragons (d20 modern, 3.5e and 5e, and a little Call of Cthulhu)
Comic books (mostly DC and independents)
Watching good movies and television shows

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Caravanfan – Best song with a banjo, IMHO.

Caravanfan's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille The funny thing about that video is that when they cut to Earl playing the banjo, what the song is doing and what is is playing are nothing alike. He’s playing a completely different song.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille My great aunt made a fresh watercress salad with violets the other night-it was a very pretty dinner.
And apparently the Dandelion jelly is so light and tasty, it’s a real treat. I’m just not that great at getting things like that to the right consistency. Like fudge, I stink at fudge making.

cookieman's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille: I’ve read some Batman, but am more of a Marvel reader.

Caravanfan's avatar

@cookieman Marvel is offering up a bunch of stuff free right now for digital. If I were a Marvel guy I would totally take them up on it.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@Patty_Melt – Do you enter poker tourneys?

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@KNOWITALL -My gramma made fudge that was as hard as a diamond.
It made beautiful jewelry and could cut glass!

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille -I have seen the Batman comics and have always liked their use of color in the illustrations.

cookieman's avatar

@Caravanfan: Yup, on Marvel Unlimited. I am all over it.

Patty_Melt's avatar

@tri Lucy, that’s what the Xbox game is. I would never play IRL. I couldn’t afford the buy in. The link is for the version I play. There are many options, tourney size, head to head, and various locations. There are fictional players, but also several celebrity players. It is programmed to assimilate their individual playing styles, and banter. Phil Laak is one of the players, and it has him going all in quite often just like he plays for real. I love beating him to the punch, and grabbing all his chips. HUSHAHHH!
Since I don’t have internet I can only play by myself, but I have fun. When Biff Wellington says, “hey, do I look stupid to you?” I come back with, dear gawd yes!

It is one of the things which keeps me from going cuckoo.
The zoo is fun because you can hand feed some of the animals, some animals do tricks, and having a new baby delivered in a crate by chopper is so cute!

Caravanfan's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille The most recent run of Batman by Tom King is one of the most amazing things I have ever read.

I write and I paint. I also do some woodcarving.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@RabidWolf -I’ve tried my hand at woodcarving and it was fun. What species of wood do you use?

RabidWolf's avatar

Hehe. I use thick tree limbs. I actually carved a perfect sword out of a limb. A kid that had done some work for us refused to be paid, and I gave him the sword. That he did accept and was very proud of what was given to him.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@RabidWolf _A friend of mine is a bird carver and I once took some lessons from him. We used basswood but he uses harder woods for his own work.
I expected to be using handtools but when he pulled out a dremel, I was a bit disappointed.

RabidWolf's avatar

I use a machete and wood files sometimes my pocket knife. I was quite proud of that sword. There was no mistaking what it was. I’d never carved anything out of wood before, and I worked really hard on it.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@RabidWolf -How big was it? Any fine detail?

RabidWolf's avatar

It was a size that was very usable if someone wanted to use it as a self-defense weapon. It had the most perfect point and even the same details from the sword I used as a guide. I just wanted to see if I could. I also carved a cane and got a tip for the end. I ended up giving it to the Vets here in PA. More and more of our people were returning home and they needed canes and walkers. The top of the cane formed perfectly to my hand. I got big hands and I’m sure a soldier got it and put it to good use.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@RabidWolf – That was kind of you to do that.
The handle on a cane does have to fit right. My brother in law and nephew both have made canes for me
The thought was nice and they were well made but didn’t fit my hand right.
