I’m expecting a check in the mail about July 1st.

elbanditoroso's avatar

No, not yet. But I changed banks in the last year, so I may end up getting a check since my old account is closed.

Demosthenes's avatar

Yes, the government has succeeded in stimulating me.

anniereborn's avatar

No, but my best friend did. I’m thinking of asking to borrow 1200 until mine gets here :p

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

Yes. I received the Canadian version. Used it to get my kitchen sink fixed by a plumber. The rest is going to food.

nightwolf5's avatar

Not yet, but been checking. I think it should be there around the end of April.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Not yet, but expecting it any time now.

Jons_Blond's avatar

No. We pay in so we aren’t top priority even though both my husband’s and my hours have been cut at work. We really need it to help pay bills.

chyna's avatar

Yes, I got it Tuesday.

LadyMarissa's avatar

Mine hasn’t shown up yet & I’m not sure whether I should be worried or not!!!

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

No. I think mine will go to my ex’s account because my last return was filed jointly with his. But, he lives in another state and has a long history of being extremely dishonest about money so it’s hard to say for sure if I’ll hear anything about it. He says he’ll let me know, so I’m just hoping eventually it comes because I need it bad.

JLeslie's avatar

^^Go to the IRS website and change the account.

filmfann's avatar

Yes, I got it Wednesday or so.
I have no plans for it. Being retired, I was mostly unaffected by the recent financial crisis, mostly.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Yes. Following Dave Ramseys advice and saving it for the inflation jump expected to hit us.

Many people arent receiving one at all, they make too much to meet the income guidelines.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@JLeslie it says the only way to update would be to file my 2019 taxes, but those places aren’t opening around here until June (I did have an appointment for April, pushed back to May, pushed back to June.) So right now it’s just in limbo and I don’t think there’s much I can do about it. Even if the money goes to that account, I know I’m legally entitled to it, it’s just a matter of when I’ll get it.

I am hoping things go slightly back to normal in May because without the stimulus or unemployment, I can’t be out of work for another month just waiting.

gondwanalon's avatar

Yes. I don’t need or want it. But I’ll take it because I pay too much in taxes.

janbb's avatar

@Jonsblond Can I ask what you mean by you pay in so you aren’t top priority? I thought every taxpayer up to a certain amount of income was entitled to it.

JLeslie's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf Do you mean tax places like H&R Block are closed? I would have thought they would have online services. I realize you probably don’t feel pressure to get taxes done right now, I’m not trying to push you or anything, I’m just curious if those tax services are nonexistent right now. Some people want to get their taxes done I’m sure, people who are owed money from the government and might not have done their taxes yet.

I owe a ton of money (it’s a ton to me anyway) so this extension has been good in my case.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@JLeslie yeah, I mean I don’t know specifically about H&R but the place I am getting mine done has been closed. I could drop them off, but they recommended that I come in to do mine because they’re a little confusing this year and they want to walk me through it. So, people with simpler filing can get theirs done but to see a person I have to wait.

SEKA's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf The deadline was moved to mid July I think, so tax preparers are no longer considered an essential business at this point in time. It seems that I read that you can go to the IRS website & answer some Q’s that they have as to why they need to send you your money. I know that the IRS has a covid-19 stimulus section that answers a lot of Qs

JLeslie's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf If this drags out long enough you probably could mail or email all your documents and zoom or skype with them, but sounds like you are not in a rush. I find it a pain to scan everything so I usually go in person myself, but my accountants never care if I come in person or not. Now, my accountant says I can’t email her, because she can get in trouble, I have to load documents to her web portal. You wouldn’t believe how big my tax return is for 2019. I can’t believe it anyway. I wish they would simplify taxes, it’s so complicated.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@JLeslie I mean, I would scan them if that’s an option, it’s not like I have anything better to do right now. I may call next week and ask if I can do that. I would love to have them filed, I know I owe taxes, but I need the stimulus asap.

Jons_Blond's avatar

@janbb They don’t have our direct deposit info because we pay in.

There’s also this: A Treasury Department spokeswoman told MONEY that payments are going out in reverse adjusted gross income order, meaning they’re being issued to people with the lowest income first.

https://money.com/who-gets-stimulus-checks-first/

janbb's avatar

@Jonsblond Got it. Thanks.

JLeslie's avatar

@Jonsblond I’m glad to hear they are paying to lowest income first. Just an hour ago a friend of mine and I were discussing the stimulus payment, I received mine already and she hasn’t.

We both were saying we hoped it went to lower income first. We thought maybe it was alphabetical since my name is before hers. My pay wasn’t very low in 2018 so if they paid me already I think people who really struggle must have received their money if it was direct deposit. I’m glad, because my state has been troubled regarding unemployment applications and payments.

I think most low-middle income people usually get a refund? I’m just guessing. It seems that way among the people I know.

anniereborn's avatar

@Jonsblond That doesn’t make sense. My best friend makes 3 times what I do and she got hers last week.

Jons_Blond's avatar

^I’m just sharing what I’ve read. The system isn’t perfect. Take a look at my link.

JLeslie's avatar

@annieborn Are you going to get direct deposit or a check?

Maybe your friend has a lower AGI?

chyna's avatar

Ugh, you have to subscribe to read it. :-(

canidmajor's avatar

Damn, I don’t subscribe and it came right up. Sorry.

anniereborn's avatar

@JLeslie Yes I will be getting direct deposit. I have no idea what AGI is.

canidmajor's avatar

@anniereborn Adjusted Gross Income

LadyMarissa's avatar

This news item gives a better idea of what to expect & when. I feel better knowing that I’m in the SOON group :]

I’ve checked all the info here listed. None of it seems eligible to help me. I receive Social Security disability. Mine should be direct deposit. I just have yet to get it.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@nightwolf5 I read they are coming to SSI recipients in the first week to two weeks of May. Have a family member waiting so I checked.

nightwolf5's avatar

@KNOWITALL Thanks. I know some SSI recipients it seems have already gotten theirs I think, so just been kinda wondering on it.

anniereborn's avatar

@nightwolf5 I get SSDI and I am still waiting too. Here’s hoping it’s the beginning of May.

nightwolf5's avatar

@anniereborn Ah okay, thanks yes SSDI is what I have too. So we’ll just have to keep checking. I know they have more than a lot to get out.

chyna's avatar

My brother is on SSDI and has not received his stimulus check yet.

Brian1946's avatar

I got mine today (May 1st), via the USPS. Now I’m stimulated to PAR-TAY! :-D

Here’s something I copied from an email that my US Rep Brad Sherman sent to me:

Most Americans will receive an Economic Impact Payment of $1200 per adult and $500 per child. Those couples with income over $150,000, and singles over $75,000, will get less. And those over $198,000/ $99,000 will not get a payment.

Here’s information on how to determine when your payment will arrive and how to expedite your payment:

Today, on what would have been Tax Day, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and IRS launched the “Get My Payment” web application. The FREE app allows taxpayers who filed their tax return in 2018 or 2019 but did not provide their banking information on either return to submit direct deposit information. Once they do, they will get their Economic Impact Payments deposited directly in their bank accounts, instead of waiting for a check to arrive in the mail. “Get My Payment” also allows taxpayers to track the status of their payment.

“Get My Payment” is an online app that will display on any desktop, phone or tablet. It does not need to be downloaded from an app store.

For taxpayers to track the status of their payment, they will need to enter basic information in the “Get My Payment” app:

Social Security Number
Date of birth
Mailing address

Taxpayers who want to add their bank account information to speed receipt of their payment will also need to provide the following additional information:

Their Adjusted Gross Income from their most recent tax return submitted, either 2019 or 2018
The refund or amount owed from their latest filed tax return
Bank account type, account and routing numbers

Taxpayers are encouraged to gather this information before they enter the portal to save time.

Americans who did not file a tax return in 2018 or 2019 can use “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” to submit basic personal information to quickly and securely receive their Economic Impact Payments.

Americans who filed 2018 or 2019 tax returns with direct deposit information or receive Social Security do not need to take action. They will automatically receive payment in their bank accounts.

“Get My Payment” cannot update bank account information after an Economic Impact Payment has been scheduled for delivery. To help protect against potential fraud, the tool also does not allow people to change bank account information already on file with the IRS. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. We urge taxpayers to be on the lookout for scammers and email phishing attempts about the COVID-19 and Economic Impact Payments.

anniereborn's avatar

I got mine on Wednesday (2 days ago ).

elbanditoroso's avatar

Still waiting.

Jons_Blond's avatar

Still waiting as well.

JLeslie's avatar

Those of you still waiting did you file 2019 taxes?

Jons_Blond's avatar

^We did last Friday. Our eldest son filed April 11 and received his stimulus two days ago, so it took just over two weeks for him. My husband and I are hoping for the same for us but we have one concern. My husband’s wages are garnished each paycheck for past medical bills. We are worried the private collector might try to take our stimulus. I’ve researched if they can and found this from Forbes: Governors from several states such as Washington, Illinois and Oregon have issued executive orders to prevent private debt collectors from seizing federal stimulus checks from people in their respective state.

The collector is in Illinois where our debt is from but we live in Wisconsin now.

JLeslie's avatar

@Jonsblond Thanks. We think my Inlaws’ stimulus check is held up because they did file their 2019 and it’s not processed yet, but we don’t know for sure.

Jons_Blond's avatar

@JLeslie My son always received the not processed response when checking on the status. He was finally notified two days before the deposit.

Brian1946's avatar

I’ve read that if one enters their info in ALL CAPS, they’ll get an actual status update.

elbanditoroso's avatar

@Brian1946 i did mine in lower case, told me to expect my $ on Wednesday

JLeslie's avatar

@Jonsblond He received his refund deposit or stimulus deposit?

JLeslie's avatar

@Jonsblond It’s his tax refund saying it’s still processing. I tried to find where on the website to see if his stimulus money went out and couldn’t figure it out. My accountant thinks if 2019 taxes are processing then it holds up the stimulus check.

The other problem could be that his 2018 taxes had his previous address, and if they sent a paper check based on his 2018 taxes he won’t get it, he doesn’t live there now.

jca2's avatar

I got my letter around May 1, saying I’m getting the full amount. I don’t do direct deposit of my tax refunds so the Treasury doesn’t have my bank record on file. I’m fine waiting for the check.

Jons_Blond's avatar

We were notified that a check will be sent out to us on the 15th of May so hopefully we’ll see it in the mail early next week. It could not come at a better time. My husband is getting furloughed without pay for at least a week beginning on the 18th.

elbanditoroso's avatar

Yes, but because of income, I only received about $100.00. Big deal.

JLeslie's avatar

Update: I called the IRS for my in-laws and they are answering the phone again! The representative couldn’t give me specifics about their account, but she said if my FIL calls they should be able to tell him what’s going on with his refund and stimulus payment. Crossing my fingers.

nightwolf5's avatar

Just saw this today, so hopefully this is good news for SSI and ones on disability that it is soon to be coming for them

But yeah still waiting.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

I called Missouri to find the staus of my state return. It was pretty painless.

Brian1946's avatar

I got a letter from “Trump” today (May 14th: only 13 days after the check arrived), announcing that my check has arrived.

For some odd reason, there’s what looks like a sample of seismographic scribbling, at the bottom.

SEKA's avatar

^ He wanted to sign the checks but he wasn’t allowed so he sent out a personal letter. The letter was so late that I had already spent what I received. My letter was English on the front and Spanish on the back
