When there is a vaccine for covid-19, will the anti-vax crowd get the shot?

Asked by filmfann (52487points) April 20th, 2020

And will those who don’t endanger the rest?

I can’t see the anti-vax kooks ever taking the shot. They would rather die than go against their ant-vaxi philosophies.

And I’m all for it. Let them suffer. Their choice.

Nope, they’ll be jackasses as usual. I’ll get it myself but I won’t be first in line to be honest though. Something rammed through the system at breakneck speed brings me a little pause when it comes to safety. I’ll let a crop of volunteers go first and see how they react before I get it.

^Exactly.
So while waiting to ensure the shot is effective and doesn’t harm me, I’ll keep myself as safe as I can with washing hands, coughing in my arm and safe sex.

Anti-vaxX mantra:

1 ) I will not get vaccinate !

2 ) Look at #1 !

I will bet a dollar that corporations will not allow employees back to work without a vaccination or demonstrated antibody test.

Failure to get a vaccination is prima facie evidence of not being interested in performing job requirements.

@zenvelo the religious rights wackos will take them to court. “It’s against my religious scruples…. I can infect anyone I want…”

zenvelo's avatar

@elbanditoroso You can’t sue your employer for not wanting to do a legal work requirement. You can keep your religious scruples somewhere else.

My neurologist told me to never get a vaccine again, due to having Guillain Barre Syndrome once (as a result of a virus). So if there were a law saying I would need a vaccine to get a job, I’d show proof, or sue and win.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

@jca2 Were you able to recover from it?

elbanditoroso's avatar

@jca2 of course with a doctor’s note you wouldn’t need to.

But G-B is rare – maybe 1 in 100,000 people. The vast majority of people will NOT have a doctor’s excuse.

They are terrified they will be forced to.

The true anti-vax crowd will not get it. I talked with one a few days ago and she was never vaccinated and couldn’t fathom getting any sort of vaccine. I have a feeling some of the leaders of that movement get vaccines in secret though. Just like Osama bin Laden wasn’t blowing himself up, just asking others to do it for him.

@ARE_you_kidding_me: Yes, 5 days of IVIG in the hospital on the medical unit and then 3 weeks on the rehabilitation floor of the hospital. Then a few weeks home taking it easy, then working part time for two months.

@jca2 Good to hear. That sounds like a nasty illness.

Any guesses on how much a COVID-19 vaccine will cost in the United States?

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@hmmmmmm $20 is my guess.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

@hmmmmmm Hopefully nothing like the flu shot is more or less.

Probably not.
